About WPC Product Timer for WooCommerce
The sale nobody remembered to end
In a store that runs campaigns, the costly mistake is not forgetting to start the sale, it is forgetting to end it: the discounted price is still live on Monday and you sell with a thinner margin until someone notices. Scheduling every change by hand depends on someone being awake at midnight. WPC Product Timer for WooCommerce moves that work into rules with a date and time: the product changes its price, visibility or availability on its own, and goes back to normal without anyone touching anything.
The rules act on the regular and sale price, on whether the product is visible or hidden, featured or not, in stock or out of stock, purchasable or not purchasable, and on the sold individually option.
Time conditions in WPC Product Timer: from a single day to a weekly pattern
Each rule combines date and time conditions (up to 15), which you pick in a visual calendar or type in by hand. This is what you can express:
- An exact date, a date range, or before or after a date and time.
- Up to 5 separate dates, useful for holidays such as New Year's Day or Christmas.
- Even or odd days of the month, to alternate products.
- A daily time range (products visible from 7:00 to 21:00) or before and after a time (breakfasts before 9 a.m. and desserts after 8 p.m. in a restaurant).
- A fixed day of every week, for flash sales that repeat every Monday.
With recurring conditions you can plan your promotional calendar for the whole year.
A full launch in three chained actions
Imagine a new product that you want hidden while you check stock, sold for a week at a launch price and then moved to its normal price. That is three actions, each with its own condition: hide during one date range, sale price during another range, and regular price from a given date and time. The order in which you add them does not change the result, as long as the conditions make sense and do not contradict each other. Adding several actions to the same product, however, belongs to the premium version, which allows unlimited actions.
So you do not discover mistakes on campaign day, it includes a simulator: you choose a product, a date and time (past or future) and a role (guest, customer or other), and it shows which rules are triggered and which actions are applied.
Hiding a product does not stop it from being bought
A hidden product disappears from search and from the store listing, but anyone with the exact link can open its page and add it to the cart. To really stop the sale you need to combine two actions: hide it and mark it as unpurchasable. If you want it to stay visible but not be sold for a while, marking it as unpurchasable is enough.
If you have many products, the global timer applies rules to the whole store, to specific categories or to products with certain tags, without setting up each one separately.
The countdown customers see is another plugin
WPC Product Timer works mostly in the admin area. Here is the split:
- It solves: scheduling price, visibility, stock, availability and featured status by date and time, with per-product or global rules, and testing them in the simulator.
- You cover it with another plugin: a countdown visible in the store. The same developer offers WPC Countdown Timer for that.
- You cover it yourself: telling customers that the sale is ending.
- You cover it yourself: checking that your rules do not contradict each other.
Questions before setting up your first rule
Do I need the premium version?
For a simple sale with a single action per product, not necessarily. If you want to chain several actions, as in the launch above, you do.
Does it work for a restaurant with time-based menus?
Yes, to show or hide products depending on the time of day. It acts on WooCommerce products, so it does not replace an ordering or booking system.
Is it compatible with my theme?
It is compatible with WordPress themes and with WPClever and WooCommerce plugins. If you use other plugins that touch prices, test your rules in the simulator first.
Can I schedule a whole category at once?
Yes, with the global timer: you choose all products, specific categories or products with certain tags.
