About WPForms Campaign Monitor Addon
The subscriber you copy by hand reaches your list late
Someone leaves their email on your site. The entry stays in WordPress until a person exports it, cleans the file and uploads it to Campaign Monitor. In the meantime that contact is not on your list, and any send that goes out during those days does not reach them. With several forms, someone also has to remember which one goes to which list.
No pending task should stand between signing up and being on the list. Every manual export opens that gap, and every new form adds work to the routine.
WPForms Campaign Monitor connects your WordPress forms to your Campaign Monitor account and adds the person to the chosen list as soon as they submit the form, with no code. It is an addon: it needs WPForms and a Campaign Monitor account.
What happens when the form is submitted
- Automatic signup: the contact joins the list you chose in that form's connection.
- Field mapping: after choosing the list, you see its fields and decide which form field supplies each one.
- Required email: you must connect the Email field, or subscribers will not reach the list.
- Optional conditional logic: the connection is processed only when the rule you set is met.
- Several destinations: you can connect different forms to different lists and segments.
- No cap on forms: you create as many signup forms as you need.
A checkbox turns any form into a signup
Conditional logic opens a use that goes beyond the newsletter. Add a checkbox to your contact form asking "Would you like to join our mailing list?" and set the connection to process only on the affirmative answer. People writing for another reason keep reaching you as usual, and only those who tick the box go on to Campaign Monitor.
The same idea works for sorting contacts. If each form connects to its own list, a download form and the newsletter form can feed different destinations without anyone sorting them later. Send a test entry through each form and confirm in Campaign Monitor where it landed.
What stays in Campaign Monitor
Lists are managed in Campaign Monitor, so you must create them there before connecting the form. The fields available for mapping are those of the chosen list, and new lists are not created here.
The addon does not replace your email service either: its job is to add subscribers when the form is submitted. Campaign design and sending stay in your Campaign Monitor account.
API Key, Client ID and first connection
You need WPForms and this addon active, on their latest version. The connection has two parts: first the account and then each form.
- In Campaign Monitor, open Account Settings and then API Keys. Generate a key or use an existing one with Show API Key.
- Also copy your account's Client ID.
- In WordPress, go to WPForms, Settings, Integrations tab, open Campaign Monitor and click Add New Account.
- Paste the key and the Client ID, add an internal nickname and confirm with Connect to Campaign Monitor. The Connected status should appear.
- Edit the form and open Marketing, Campaign Monitor, Add New Connection.
- Enter a nickname, choose the account and list, and map the fields, including Email.
- Turn on Enable Conditional Logic if you need it and save the form.
- Send a test entry and check that the contact appears on the list.
Connectors for those using another email service
This addon only talks to Campaign Monitor. WPForms Mailchimp makes the trip to Mailchimp, with tags and with forms for unsubscribing. WPForms Kit adds contacts to Kit and handles signups, unsubscribes and custom events.
To send data to a CRM or a tool with its own API, WPForms Webhooks sends it to external URLs. And if you prefer contacts and campaigns inside WordPress, FluentCRM Pro is a self-hosted CRM, with sending handled by an SMTP service.
Details worth clearing up before connecting
Can I send each form to a different list?
Yes. Each form has its own connection, with its own list.
I submitted the form and nobody arrived, what do I check?
Start with the Email field in the field mapping. If it is connected, see whether conditional logic stopped that entry from being processed.
Where do I create a new list?
In Campaign Monitor. It will then be available to choose under Select List.
