For people who manage several client sites, not for those after a one-click SEO fix
You publish content, tweak titles and expect Google to pick it up, but a few months later there are broken links, outdated sitemaps and pages with no metadata that nobody checked. SmartCrawl includes SEO health audits and site crawls for that ongoing maintenance.
It suits you if you are an agency, a freelancer or the person in charge of a WooCommerce store who wants a single plugin with audits, redirects, schema and sitemaps. It is less appealing if you only have a small blog and a title and description per post are enough: you will have many modules you will not use.
Keep in mind that several features belong to the Pro version: automatic linking, automated crawls with fixes, instant indexing, the central dashboard, white label, WooCommerce SEO and robots.txt with breadcrumbs. It is not a plugin that fixes SEO by magic: it points out problems and automates part of the work, but the content and the strategy remain yours.
WPMU DEV SmartCrawl audits and crawls: spot the problem before it costs you rankings
The plugin analyzes your site's SEO health and produces reports with the areas to improve. In Pro, it also schedules automated crawls that look for faults and apply optimizations. For an agency, the practical value is twofold: you detect issues before the client notices them and you can present reports with your own branding.

- Content analysis: evaluates the main keyphrase and its density while you edit, inside the editor.
- Yoast import: includes an importer, handy if you migrate a site that already has data from another plugin.
Metadata, schema and social networks: how you appear in the results
You can control titles and meta descriptions, with the option to limit their length, to improve click-through rate. The schema module offers more than 150 types of structured data, designed for rich snippets. It also manages OpenGraph and X cards so that what you share on social networks looks right, plus breadcrumbs with support for WooCommerce and custom post types.
Each setting has its own module and can be turned off, so you do not have to carry what you do not need.
Redirects, sitemaps and indexing: what keeps crawling clean
Redirects support regular expressions and location-based rules (the latter in Pro). This is useful if you change your URL structure or serve different content by country.
Sitemaps are generated automatically for the different content types, and you can notify search engines when there is something new. With IndexNow (Pro) you announce new or updated content to search engines that support that protocol. This does not guarantee rankings or that everything gets indexed.
Automatic linking and WooCommerce: two features that call for judgment
Automatic linking turns keywords into internal and external links. You should define well which words to link and where to, so you do not fill your texts with repetitive links. Review the exclusions by content type.
For stores, WooCommerce SEO provides preset settings. Do not expect a complete optimization of product pages without your intervention.
