About XML for Google Merchant Center by WpDesk 1.9.10

Your WooCommerce catalog isn't written for Google

Getting products into Google Merchant Center often ends in a hand-built CSV, columns that don't match what Google expects, or a feed nobody remembers to refresh. The root problem is that your catalog is designed for people already inside your store, while a feed is read by a machine that checks every detail against your product page.

XML for Google Merchant Center handles that translation: it exports WooCommerce products to CSV or XML and also includes a mapper to generate the Google Merchant Center feed. You decide what goes out, under what name and when.

Field mapping in XML for Google Merchant Center

All exportable fields appear in a table. You uncheck the ones you don't want and, in the name column, type your own name to replace the original WooCommerce one (the original name is shown but can't be edited). You also choose which attributes to export: all of them or only some.

You can export simple, variable, grouped and external products. If you set no filter, the whole store is exported, so check it before the first send.

Filters, price and stock before the feed goes out

Not everything you sell deserves a spot in a paid showcase. Conditional logic lets you export only the products that meet the rules you define:

  • Category name
  • Product title and description
  • SKU
  • Price and sale price
  • Stock
  • Tag name

There is also a price modifier (fixed value or percentage, in bulk) and a stock modifier, both combinable with those conditions. Use them carefully: Google compares feed data with the product page, and a price that differs from the listing is a common reason for rejection.

A feed that regenerates itself with cron

An outdated feed advertises sold-out products or old prices. The plugin lets you schedule the export by days of the week and time. You can also name the file, set how many products are processed per batch (useful for large catalogs on modest hosting), choose the separator, set the location and FTP path, and save images in a .zip.

An export manager gathers all files in a table with their main details, and from there you create another one with a click.

Generating the feed is not the same as running your ads on Google

This plugin prepares the product file. What happens next is done outside WordPress:

  • Already solved: exporting to CSV or XML, mapping to the Merchant Center format, filtering products, adjusting price and stock, renaming fields and scheduling regeneration.
  • You cover it in Google: the Merchant Center account, domain verification and feed setup.
  • You cover it in your content: making sure titles, descriptions, images and prices are correct and meet Google's rules.
  • You cover it in advertising: the campaigns or free listings that use that data.

Frequently asked questions

Is it only for Google Merchant Center?

No. It exports WooCommerce products to CSV or XML with custom fields; the Merchant Center feed is one of the options.

Can I send only part of the store?

Yes, with conditions by category, SKU, stock, tag, price or text, and by choosing the product type.

Does it update automatically?

Yes, if you schedule the cron with the days and time. The file is saved in the location or FTP path you specify.

Can I change the column names?

Yes. You type your own name in each field and it replaces the original in the exported file.
