Xtra lets you choose your builder, and that choice is the one that matters
A multipurpose theme promises to fit everything, and the trouble starts when a client asks for something the demo didn't have or when you have to build the third site of the month in a different style. Xtra includes two ways to lay out pages: WPBakery Page Builder (with live editing from the front end or from the classic back-end editor) and Elementor (with its own widgets and section templates).
Pick your builder before importing anything. If your clients already know Elementor, start there; if you prefer to begin with complete page templates, WPBakery comes with more than 200.
Header, footer and menus built without code
The theme includes a real-time header and footer builder: you add elements, style each row separately, and the logo can be any size. The mega menu supports 1 to 8 columns, page content as a menu and icons next to links. Header rows, sidebars and the mobile header can stay fixed while scrolling.
Typography is adjusted per text type: a library of more than 1,825 Google Fonts, colors, sizes and line height for each heading, and separate options for mobile. There is also a maintenance mode, a custom 404 page, a loading screen and a built-in popup.
WooCommerce shop and portfolio with the same styling system
The shop can be laid out in 2, 3 or 4 columns, full width or with a sidebar, and the same goes for the single product page. You can display products by category, ID or SKU, and WooCommerce shortcodes work with the portfolio, gallery and blog elements. Those elements offer grids of 1 to 8 columns, masonry, justified rows, carousels, a load more button and filters by category or tag.
For a portfolio you can set up several pages, each with its own categories, and use images, slideshows or videos in every entry.
Forms, translation and advanced SEO depend on other plugins
The one-click demo importer leaves the site looking like the preview, and each demo comes with its own edit guide. But an imported demo is a starting point, not a finished site:
- Already solved: demo import, header and footer builder, mega menu, shop design, maintenance mode, 404 page and keyword and description fields on every page and post.
- With another plugin: forms use Contact Form 7 (the theme only styles them), translation needs WPML or Polylang and advanced SEO needs a plugin such as Yoast, with which it is compatible.
- By hand: your own texts, images and product listings, plus WooCommerce payments and shipping and your site's legal and cookie notices.
- With a professional: any design that goes beyond the theme's settings, which is solved with custom CSS (there is separate CSS for desktop, tablet and mobile).
Xtra and right-to-left languages
Xtra supports right-to-left languages such as Arabic, Hebrew or Persian, and is translated through .PO files. If the site will be multilingual, you will need WPML or Polylang, with which it is compatible. There are Arabic demos for anyone starting from that market.
Frequently asked questions
Is it good for an online store?
Yes, it has its own design for the WooCommerce catalog and product page. Payments, taxes and shipping are configured in WooCommerce, not in the theme.
Can I use Elementor and WPBakery at the same time?
The theme includes both, but the sensible approach is to choose one per site.
Do I need to know how to code?
Not for the usual work: every part has its own settings. Code only comes in when you want something those settings don't cover.
Does it include a child theme?
Yes, it includes a basic child theme so you can customize without touching the original files.
Does it look good on mobile?
It is responsive, with its own mobile header and menu, and you can hide elements on mobile or tablet. The responsive option can be turned off in the settings.
