About YITH WooCommerce Watermark Premium
Anyone selling product photos in a WooCommerce store tends to find the problem late: another shop is using your images, a bot downloads them in bulk and your server feels it, or someone reuses your photography without you knowing. YITH WooCommerce Watermark places a mark over your product images to discourage that use.
The case of a shop with its own photos, step by step
Imagine you take the photos for your catalog yourself and want it to be clear whose they are. The process would go like this:
- You create the mark. You can upload your logo or another image, or write some text. You don't need a logo to start: a text mark with your name or copyright notice works too.
- You adjust its look. Size, opacity, position and alignment. The size can scale in proportion to each image, so a single mark adapts to different formats. If you don't want to spoil the photo, lower the opacity.
- You decide where it applies. A global mark covers all categories or only the ones you choose. If a product needs a different mark or position, you set it on that product's page.
- You choose which image sizes show it. You can mark only the product page, leave the listing thumbnails clean, or keep the logo for when the visitor opens the zoom. There is also an option to apply it to all sizes.
- You undo it if needed. A dedicated option removes all the marks and regenerates the thumbnails, so you go back to the original images.
Text marks: what you can change and what you can't
Text marks can be created without limit. You choose from 6 fonts, color and size, you can rotate the text, repeat it across the whole image and show a background behind it with its own color and padding.
The same goes for image marks: there is no limit on how many you create, and you can repeat them to cover the whole photo. The more the mark covers, the more it affects what the customer sees. It's worth testing with your most difficult photos before applying it to the whole catalog.
It protects your images, but doesn't make them untouchable
A visible mark discourages copying and leaves your name on every photo, but it doesn't prevent downloads. Anyone determined can crop or retouch it. Think of this plugin as a deterrent and a way to sign your work, not as a technical protection.
It also only affects WooCommerce product images. It is not a general system for the whole site and does not work on images in posts or pages outside the shop.
It also includes an option to reduce the quality of product images.

Can I use different marks by category?
Yes. Global marks can apply to all categories or only some, and each product accepts its own settings.
Does it work with product zoom?
It integrates with YITH WooCommerce Product Gallery & Image Zoom: its image format appears among the sizes where you can apply the mark. That plugin is not included and you need its premium version.
Can the marks be removed later?
Yes, with the reset option that removes all marks and regenerates the thumbnails.
Do I need a logo?
No. You can create text marks with font, color, position and, if you want, a background.
When it makes sense to install YITH WooCommerce Watermark
It fits if you sell your own products with original photography, digital products or images whose copyright you want to look after, and also if you want your brand to appear on every photo. If your photos are the supplier's and hundreds of shops use them, the mark will do little for you.
