Your homepage decides whether they read a second article
Anyone starting a personal blog tends to find out the same thing: visitors arrive at a single article from Google and leave without seeing anything else. The homepage and the header are the only things that could keep them, and most themes leave them as a chronological list identical to any other blog.
ZBest is a blog theme designed for people who write and want to control what shows first: a slider, a featured box with posts you choose and several ways to arrange your entries.
Building a travel blog with ZBest, step by step
Imagine you are starting a travel blog. Here is how you would go through it:
- Pick a starting demo. There is a main one called Travelers, another called Minimalist, a food blog one (Food Blog) and an RTL one. Start from the one closest to your topic.
- Decide how posts are listed. There are eight main styles (2 or 3 column grid, list or classic), with a horizontal or vertical metabox or with post formats. Customized, they reach more than 25 variants. You can also assign a different sidebar and page layout to each page.
- Build the header. A top menu with social icons, a logo with menu and social links, or a menu at the bottom. Each element can be switched on or off.
- Set up the slider. You can skip it, show several slides (2, 3 or 4) or a single one, at content width or full screen. Fonts, options and colors can be adjusted.
- Fill the featured box. It sits below the slider and you fill it with specific posts or custom links. It displays as slides or as a grid, or you can remove it.
All of this is blog layout. Although the theme's name mentions a shop, if you plan to sell, check in the demo how that part works before deciding.
