About Admin Order Modifier for WooCommerce
When the customer quotes the final price and WooCommerce asks for the base
A phone order, an agreed quote or a correction after a complaint all end the same way: the customer talks about the price with VAT, while the order edit screen works with the amount before tax. Someone ends up with a calculator beside them, dividing, rounding and hoping the total adds up.
Admin Order Modifier for WooCommerce does not change what the customer sees; it tidies up the administrator's work on that screen.
Admin Order Modifier: you type the final price and it works out base and tax
The plugin adds the Cost (Incl.) and Total (Incl.) columns to the order screen. You enter the final amount and the base and the tax are calculated automatically, including with several tax rates, following the tax configuration of WooCommerce. You can edit from the unit cost or from the line total.
It works with products, custom fees and shipping items, and you can switch it on or off line by line. If an item carries no tax or is zero-rated, it can be configured to skip the calculation so it does not cause confusion. It also shows the correct amounts when you issue refunds and warns you if the order total has gone up after a price change.
Percentage discounts, sale prices and line order without leaving the order
Next to the price field there is a quick apply button: you choose the product's current regular or sale price without opening its page. You can see each line's discount as a percentage and also set it that way.
Lines can be dragged to change their order, and that order is kept in customer emails, invoices and the admin view, which helps when you prepare shipments. There are also quick-view buttons with each line's information, a link to the product page in the store and the option to move the columns around.
Without a tax applied to the order, the VAT columns do not appear
The plugin needs at least one active tax rate on the order. If there is none yet, it shows a notice asking you to add a tax line first. Its options are in WooCommerce > Settings > Tax > Admin Order Modifier, and you can enable only what you are going to use.
- Already solved: the calculation of base and tax from the final price, percentage discounts, reordering of lines and correct amounts in refunds.
- Yours to cover: setting up the tax rates in WooCommerce, adding the tax line when the order has none and checking the total before issuing the invoice.
- Left untouched: inventory logic. When you add or remove items, stock is still handled by WooCommerce as usual.
Common questions before using Admin Order Modifier
Is it compatible with High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS)?
Yes, it works with both HPOS and traditional order storage.
Does it work for fees and shipping, or only for products?
You can enable it for products, custom fees and shipping items, so that all editing of the order is tax-inclusive.
What happens with an item that has no tax?
You can turn the modifier off on that line or configure the plugin to skip the calculation for exempt or zero-rated items.
Does it change what the customer sees in the store?
No. It acts on the administrator's edit screen; the customer will only notice the result, for example the order of the lines in their emails.
