About ATUM Product Levels
The WooCommerce maker who wants component stock to deduct itself
Selling a product that is assembled or manufactured from several parts has a trap: in the shop you see a single item, but behind it there are screws, fabric, packaging or components used up with every order. If the stock of those materials lives in a spreadsheet, the day a key part runs out you are still selling a product you cannot produce.
ATUM Product Levels is built for that buyer: a WooCommerce shop that manufactures, assembles or prepares what it sells and needs material and part quantities to update when a sale or a production run is recorded.
It needs ATUM Inventory Management for WooCommerce, because it is an add-on and does not work on its own. And it will not help you if you only resell finished products with no components: for that, standard stock control is enough.
How a bill of materials is organized inside WooCommerce
The plugin adds a bill of materials (BOM) tab to each product. There you define which raw materials and parts are needed to produce one unit, with a quick search to pick each component and set its quantity.
So that those components exist as such, it adds four new product types:
- Raw Material
- Variable Raw Material
- Product Part
- Variable Product Part
Each one has its own stock, which you can track separately in Stock Central and in Manufacturing Central.
Manufacturing Central: one screen to see what you are missing
Next to the ATUM menu appears Manufacturing Central, equivalent to Stock Central but built for products with a bill of materials. From a single screen you see:
- The stock requirements of each product
- The component hierarchy
- Selling commitments
- Shortages
- Inventory status
Costs that recalculate when a component's price changes
Each product accepts a purchase price, which integrates with the rest of the ATUM ecosystem. If you enable automatic synchronization, when a component's price changes the cost of every product or list that includes it is updated, with no manual recalculation.
However, the calculation depends on purchase prices being entered on each component: if you leave them empty, there is nothing to propagate.
Frequently asked questions about ATUM Product Levels
Does it work without ATUM Inventory Management?
No. It requires at least the base plugin ATUM Inventory Management for WooCommerce.
Does it deduct materials automatically?
Yes: ATUM syncs quantities across the hierarchy each time a sale or a production run is recorded, with no manual updates.
Can I use raw materials with variations?
Yes, the Variable Raw Material and Variable Product Part types exist for that case.
Can I try it before deciding?
It is worth checking in a test environment that the way you produce fits a bill of materials per product, especially if your recipes are complex.
