About Bookly 2Checkout (Add-on)
Charging at booking: the moment most appointments are lost
When someone books an appointment and has to pay later, by bank transfer or in person, they often change their mind along the way. If your business lives on appointments, classes or sessions, every booking without payment is a slot that may end up empty. Bookly 2Checkout adds a credit card payment option to the Bookly booking form through the 2Checkout gateway, so the client confirms and pays in the same step.
What Bookly 2Checkout does inside the booking form
It is one more payment gateway in the Bookly PRO form. It simply offers 2Checkout as a payment method to the client.
- Credit card payment: the client pays when booking.
- Price correction: you can make the appointment price change when the client chooses 2Checkout. It is useful if you want to pass on fees or, the other way around, encourage another payment method.
- Tax data: if the Bookly Taxes add-on is installed and active, the tax information is sent to the gateway.
Who it makes sense for and who won't get much out of it
It fits if you already work with Bookly PRO and your audience is spread across different countries, because 2Checkout is presented as a global gateway for taking card payments from buyers anywhere. That is the case for online consultants, private tutors, studios with international clients or booking services that serve tourists.
If your clientele is local and you already charge through another gateway that works well, adding a second one only makes sense if your clients ask for it. And if you don't use Bookly yet, this plugin does nothing on its own.
What you need and what to decide before adding 2Checkout
Before buying it, weigh three things: whether your business needs to charge upfront, whether a gateway with international reach gives you anything over the one you already use, and whether you want to adjust the price depending on the payment method.
Does it work without Bookly PRO?
No. It is an add-on and requires Bookly PRO to be installed and active.
Which payment methods does it offer?
What the add-on describes is credit card payment. Don't assume it adds other methods; check the Bookly demo if a specific one matters to you.
Can I charge more to those who pay with 2Checkout?
You can use the price correction feature to modify the appointment amount when the client chooses this gateway.
Does it send taxes to the gateway?
Yes, but only if the Bookly Taxes add-on is installed and active. Without it, that information is not sent.
