About Bookly PayPal Payments Standard (Add-on)

An unpaid appointment is an hour that can end up empty

Anyone who lives off a calendar (hair salon, classes, clinic, workshop) knows the problem: the client books, doesn't show up, and that slot can't be recovered. Asking for payment at the moment of booking changes things, because someone who has already paid has more reason to turn up. With Bookly PayPal Payments Standard, payment happens inside the booking form itself, with no chasing bank transfers or sending payment links by message.

It is a Bookly add-on, not a standalone booking system: it adds PayPal as a payment option to the form you have already set up with Bookly PRO.

Three calendars, three reasons to offer PayPal when booking

If your clients already use PayPal every day

They can pay with their PayPal account balance or with a credit card.

If you charge differently depending on how people pay

The add-on includes Bookly's price correction feature, which lets you modify the appointment amount when the client chooses PayPal.

If your business invoices with taxes

If you have the Bookly Taxes add-on installed and activated, the payment sends the tax information to the gateway. Without that other add-on, no tax data is sent.

What the client sees when paying with Bookly PayPal Payments Standard

The client picks a service and time as usual and, at the payment step, PayPal appears among the options. The idea is a simple checkout experience within the booking process, and all payments go through PayPal.

  • PayPal payment option added to Bookly's online booking form.
  • Payment with PayPal balance or with a credit card.
  • Appointment price adjustment when paying with PayPal.
  • Tax data sent to the gateway, if Bookly Taxes is active.

Common questions before enabling PayPal in Bookly

Does it work without Bookly PRO?

No. It is an add-on and needs Bookly PRO installed.

Will my clients be able to pay by card without a PayPal account?

It is not guaranteed. PayPal service availability varies by country or region: in some places only payment with a PayPal account is allowed, and guest card payment may not be available depending on several factors. It's best to check PayPal's documentation or ask their customer service.

Can I use my personal account?

The add-on requires a PayPal Business or PayPal Premier account to work.

Can I try it before deciding?

Bookly offers a live demo of its booking system. Use it to review how the payment step looks in the form.

It requires Bookly PRO and a PayPal Business or Premier account

Without those two requirements, the add-on does nothing. It also only adds PayPal: if you need to offer other gateways, you will have to find them separately. And since card payment conditions depend on the country of your account and your client's, make a test booking before opening the calendar to the public.
