Anyone looking for a car searches by make, model and year
Not by design, nor by how attractive the website is. They type what they want, filter by price and mileage, and compare three. A dealership whose site does not let them do that loses the sale before anyone picks up a phone, however good the homepage looks.
Boxcar is built around that search: a WordPress theme for dealerships and vehicle sales with the listing and the search at its centre.
What it brings for selling cars
- Advanced search, in three formats depending on where you put it: full, simple or the homepage one.
- Vehicle listings with configurable fields, so each dealership shows the data its sector expects.
- Comparison, which is what everybody does before deciding.
- Front-end submission, so a salesperson or a private seller can upload their vehicle without entering the admin.
- Maps, with Google, Here or Mapbox, so the alternatives to Google are there when the bill grows.
The user side
User dashboard, sign-in with social accounts and notifications, which is what you need if the model is a portal with several sellers rather than a single dealership.
It is edited with Elementor, including the Pro version, is optimised for the block editor and ships one-click demo import. Compatible with WooCommerce and with WPML.
The cost that does not appear on the product page
Getting the stock in. A dealership with two hundred vehicles, each with fifteen photos and twenty fields, is not entering them by hand, still less when that stock turns over weekly.
Normally the inventory already lives in a management system or a trade portal, and what is needed is pulling it in from there automatically. The theme does not include that connection: it has to be solved with an importer and, depending on the source format, with bespoke work. It is the first question to ask before buying, because it decides whether the project is two days or two weeks.
