About Cost and Reports for WooCommerce

Many WooCommerce stores know how much they bill, but not how much they earn. Purchase prices live in a spreadsheet, shipping is estimated from memory, and when a supplier raises prices nobody reviews the margin on products that are already published.

Margin gets lost in the catalog, not at the checkout

Anyone selling physical products tends to watch the day's sales rather than the margin on each item. Cost and Reports for WooCommerce starts from that idea: it adds purchase price, cost of goods, shipping cost and margin fields to each product and variation, and uses them to calculate cost value, retail value and profit. You can work with prices including or excluding VAT.

One important detail: when an order comes in, the plugin stores the cost and purchase price on each order line. So if you change a product's cost six months from now, reports for older orders still show the profit they had back then.

Table editor: change hundreds of prices without opening every product

The most practical piece is the bulk editing table. It shows your products in rows and lets you modify:

  • Purchase price, cost, shipping and margin.
  • Regular price and sale price.
  • Stock.

You can apply a change to several rows at once, for example raising an extra cost on all selected products, and apply a rounding rule so prices end up clean. The plugin recalculates margin and profit as you edit. Range filters help you find what needs attention: products with a low margin or with no cost entered. You can hide or show columns (ID, SKU, prices, stock) and export the filtered view.

Order, product and customer reports, plus a profit dashboard

There are three table-style reports, with date ranges, row search, and totals and averages that recalculate according to the filter:

  • Orders: totals, costs, profit, net sales, taxes, refunds, customer, role and status.
  • Products: products and variations sold, quantities, price, cost, margin, category and SKU.
  • Customers: totals, contact details, shipping, taxes and payment method. You can filter by customer, company or role.

The Insights tab summarizes net sales, profit, refunds, cost of goods, shipping and taxes with trend charts and lists of the products and customers that bring in the most profit. There is also an inventory valuation dialog with purchase, cost, retail and stock totals for the whole store, and a counter for new orders that can refresh automatically if you enable it in the settings.

You export to CSV (full data, including fields not visible on screen) or to XLSX (the table as you have it filtered and sorted).

If you are torn between this plugin and another: what to know before choosing it

It is a cost and profitability tool inside WooCommerce. It is not full accounting software and does not replace your accountant: it is for deciding prices and seeing margins. If you already use a cost field, you can connect it in the settings; it can also create its own or use WooCommerce's native Cost of Goods field. It works with Subscriptions, Product Bundles, Order Status Manager and high-performance order storage (HPOS).

Does it work out the cost by itself?

No: you have to enter the purchase price or cost of each product. Without that data, the profit on those lines will not be reliable; the range filter helps you find the missing ones.

Does it work for variable products?

Yes, costs are added per product or per variation, and the products report goes down to the variation level.

Can I work with prices including VAT?

Yes, the price selector lets you calculate with or without VAT.

Will my old orders show profit?

The cost is stored on the order line when the purchase is made. For orders placed before installation, check what cost data they have before trusting the profit shown.
