Every new site starts with the same lost hour

The creative part of a project comes later. First comes the ritual: uploading the usual fifteen plugins one by one, activating them one by one, deleting the sample content, working out why the emails are not going out, logging in over FTP because one of the files weighs more than the server accepts.

What it does

• Installs and activates in bulk, dragging plugins and themes in, with no going one by one and no FTP.
• Overwrites what is active without deactivating it first, which is what stops settings getting lost during manual updates.
• Downloads in bulk a site's whole toolset for moving it to another one.
• Resets the site to a clean state, and can do it in parts: database only, content only, plugins only or themes only.
• Shows the server information (PHP version, memory, scheduled tasks, where the error log lives) without hunting through menus.

When it pays

If you build sites often. That is its exact case: the more the start-up repeats, the more having the ritual reduced to a couple of gestures shows.

If you work with test environments. Granular reset turns "start from scratch" into a minute, and that changes how you test: you test more because undoing is cheap.

If you maintain other people's sites, having the system information to hand saves half the conversations with the host.
