About Directorist Listings with Map

A listing without a map forces people to open every page to learn where it is

In a real estate directory, visitors rarely ask "what is it like?" first; they ask "where is it?". If they have to open listing after listing to find out whether a flat is near their work or a school, they get tired and leave. Directorist Listings with Map puts the listings and a map with markers on the same screen, so location is clear at a glance.

How Directorist Listings with Map divides the screen

The listings page has three blocks: filters, listings and map. With them the plugin offers two arrangements:

  • Two columns: filters and listings sit one below the other on the left, and the map with markers takes the right side.
  • Three columns: filters, listings and map sit side by side.

You can also show listings with or without the map, depending on the page. The new views apply to listings, search results, categories and location pages, so the same format works across the whole directory navigation.

Google Maps or OpenStreetMap: choose according to your project

The plugin includes two map systems and you decide which one to use to show the geolocation of the listings.

If you already work with Google Maps

You can keep the same provider your users know and that you may already use elsewhere on your site.

If you prefer OpenStreetMap

It is the alternative if you do not want to depend on Google for your directory's mapping. Before launching, check in the demo that the look of the markers and the map suits you.

What you gain depending on the type of directory you build

Property portal for sale or rent

Buyers filter on the left and see on the map how properties are spread across areas. It is useful when your offer is concentrated in a few neighborhoods and you want that to show.

Directory by city or neighborhood

Because location and category pages use the same views, people who enter a specific area see its listings next to the map, with no extra steps.

Directory with few listings

With a small offer, a map with three markers adds less. Here you can choose the no-map view on the pages where it does not pay off.

It needs the Directorist plugin to work

It is not a directory by itself: it is an extension and requires the base Directorist plugin to be installed. Nor does it build filters from scratch or change your listing data: it presents what you have already loaded in a different way.
