About Divi Responsive Helper
In Divi, what wears you out on mobile is not difficulty, it is repetition
A Divi page looks good on desktop and on the phone the same three problems show up: sections with too much padding, columns that stack in the wrong order and headings that leave a single word on the last line. None of them is hard. What costs time is fixing it in every section, row and module, and repeating it on the next page.
Divi Responsive Helper, by Pee-Aye Creative, targets exactly that: it turns into a global setting what used to be fixed by hand, module by module. Its options are built into the Divi Theme Options and into the module, row, column and section settings you already know.
What you set once for the whole site
- Divi 5 breakpoints: default pixel values and enabled or disabled status for Ultra Wide, Widescreen, Desktop, Tablet Wide, Tablet, Phone Wide and Phone, with import and export of the configuration.
- Default top and bottom padding for sections and rows, and row width and max width, for each breakpoint.
- Columns per row and stacking order at each breakpoint, for example the image above the text on mobile.
- Columns and item count per breakpoint in the Blog, Gallery, Portfolio, Filterable Portfolio and Woo Products modules.
- Custom CSS per breakpoint and named media queries, with minimum and maximum width.
Text and menus, adapted to each screen
Fluid typography scales headings and body text between a minimum and a maximum size based on screen width, with headings from H1 to H6 in proportion so the hierarchy is kept. The widow word fixer replaces the last space in headings and paragraphs with a non-breaking one, site-wide or per module.
In menus you can hide an item depending on the device, use a different menu per device in the Menu module, set a hamburger menu on desktop, collapse submenus on mobile and set a custom menu breakpoint.
For touch screens it brings separate switches: remove hover effects, enable parallax or remove animations on mobile, prevent horizontal scrolling, allow pinch zoom, a mobile logo in the default header and the browser address bar color.
Theme Builder, Divi 4 and the Divi Builder plugin
It is not a builder and it does not replace Divi. It adds options to what already exists in Divi.
The menu controls live in the Menu module. They also apply to the default Divi header; that extension to the default header does not cover Theme Builder headers.
In Divi 4 there is no live preview of its settings inside the visual builder: changes show on the site once you exit. In Divi 5 there is.
It needs the Divi or Extra theme. Its settings are configured in Theme Options, which the Divi Builder plugin on another theme does not have, so that combination is not supported.
Installing it and starting with the global settings
It works with Divi 4 and Divi 5 from the same file, and also with the Extra theme. If you move from Divi 4 to Divi 5, the settings carry over to the new interface.
- Activate the plugin and first set the default padding for sections and rows at each breakpoint.
- Define columns and stacking order for the rows you repeat most.
- Turn on fluid typography and the widow word fixer.
- Review the site with the preview at different widths and keep per-module settings for the exceptions only.
A custom mobile menu, or floating buttons
The base product is Divi, theme and visual builder in one. If what you need is to design the mobile menu from scratch, Divi Pixel brings a mobile menu builder made with the Divi Builder itself, plus more than fifty modules. And DiviMenus, despite its name, does not touch WordPress menus: it is a module for floating buttons, grids and popups.
Divi 5, Extra and the preview
Does it work with the Extra theme?
Yes, it is supported.
Can I use it with the Divi Builder plugin on another theme?
No. Its settings depend on Theme Options, which only exist in the Divi theme.
Do the menu controls work in a Theme Builder header?
The Menu module ones do, if the header uses that module. The settings meant for the default Divi header do not reach it.
How do I see changes in Divi 4?
By exiting the builder. Keeping the builder and the site open in two tabs saves back and forth.
