About Filmax – Movie Magazine WordPress Theme
A film magazine lives on its front page, not on its archive
Setting up a film blog often ends in a chronological list of posts where yesterday's review buries today's release, trailers get lost and nobody finds what they came for. Anyone publishing about cinema competes against huge outlets and every visit is decided on the first screen: if it looks like a living magazine, the reader stays; if it looks like a diary sorted by date, they leave.
Filmax is designed for exactly that first screen. It is a magazine and film blog theme with a front page that combines news, trailers, releases and profiles of people in the industry in separate blocks.
The front-page blocks that come with Filmax
The demo shows three home page variants and a front page split into modules built for audiovisual content:
- Trailers: a tabbed section to switch between recent, most popular and best, each title with its genres.
- Releases: a featured item with a synopsis and links to watch the trailer or read more, plus movie lists with tabs for recent, popular and best.
- Coming soon: a block to announce titles that have not arrived yet.
- Featured person: a short profile of an actor or director with a link to their biography, and a born-today block.
- Latest news: posts with category, date, comments and likes.
- Testimonials: a space for quotes from readers or experts.
The useful idea is that each type of content has its own place, so visitors enter through what interests them and not through whatever you published last.
How Filmax organizes your news
Beyond the front page, the demo menu includes several ways to display the post archive: a classic style in two or three columns, a portfolio-style layout from two to four columns, and a chessboard style in two, four or six columns. This lets the news section look like a traditional blog or a visual grid, depending on how much weight you want to give images.
The demo also includes supporting pages: typography, shortcodes, gallery, an About page, privacy policy, contact and a services page. You can use them as a base for a complete site and not just for the blog.
What to decide before choosing Filmax
It is a theme with an editorial look, so it fits if you will publish regularly and with well-cared-for images (posters, stills, portraits). If your project is a store, a booking site or a cinema selling tickets, the demo shows nothing of the kind. It is also not a catalog with automatic data: the titles, genres, actor profiles and releases you see in the demo are content you will have to load and maintain yourself. Check in the demo how the blocks behave on mobile before deciding.
Is it useful for anything other than cinema?
It is designed and presented for film and entertainment, with blocks for movies, trailers and people. For another subject you would have to rewrite almost all the front-page modules.
Can I build a catalog of movies or actors?
Yes, visually: there are listings by genre and profiles of people. But you will not get a movie database that fills itself in; every entry is your own work.
Can I have a front page different from the demo?
The demo offers three home variants and several post archive styles, so there is room to choose a layout that fits your editorial line.
Is it suitable for a personal review blog?
Yes, especially if you want reviews to live alongside news and trailers. If you only publish one review a month, some blocks will stay empty and a simpler front page may suit you better.
