About Fixnow – A Perfect Plumbing WordPress Theme
A plumber has two businesses and one homepage cannot serve both
It is the trade's particularity and it explains why so many plumbing websites perform badly even when they are well made.
The first business is the emergency. There is water coming out of something, it is Sunday afternoon, and the person is standing in the hallway with their phone in hand. They do not compare prices, do not read about your experience and do not fill anything in. They call the first one who inspires confidence within ten seconds. Here the price is almost irrelevant and the only variable is how long you take to arrive.
The second business is planned work. Refitting a bathroom, changing the boiler, laying underfloor heating. Here the person takes three weeks, asks for three quotes, discusses it at home and compares. Price matters a great deal, and what decides it is whether you look reliable enough to have somebody in the house for two weeks.
They are two visitors in two opposite hurries, and a homepage trying to serve both fails with both. FixNow is a WordPress theme for plumbers, plumbing companies and repair work, with responsive design tested on the main mobile devices.
What it contributes
- A plumbing company structure, with the trade's pages already built.
- Fully responsive design, tested on phones, which is where everything arrives.
- Presentation of services and track record.
How the two-business conflict gets solved
With two separate routes from the top, not with a compromise homepage.
At the top, the emergency. The phone number large and tappable, and beside it the sentence that decides: "we take call-outs until eleven" or "we arrive within the hour in the city centre". Nothing else. That person is not going to scroll.
Below, the planned work. That is where the photographs go, the finished bathrooms, the quotes and the form. Whoever is refitting does scroll, does read and does compare.
And one detail that sounds minor and is not: say how you charge for the call-out and for out-of-hours. In emergencies, the price argument on the doorstep with a wet floor is where this sector's reviews get lost, and it gets avoided with one sentence on the site.
What brings the call-outs, and it is not the website
Worth saying so the money does not go where it does not pay.
In local trades, most emergency calls come from the business listing in the search engine: the one showing your hours, your area, your photographs and your reviews directly in the results, without anybody visiting your site. Having that set up properly with recent reviews pays back more than the whole website.
The website does the other half: a page per area and per service. Nobody searches for "plumbing services"; they search for "plumber" plus their neighbourhood. A page of its own for each combination you genuinely work is what puts you there, and it is more work than it looks.
Requirements
It needs WordPress. The quote form and the appointment diary get added separately, although in emergencies the telephone beats the form.
Alternatives in the catalogue
If you cover several trades rather than only plumbing, Hendy and Fixhero are designed for the multi-service handyman.
If your weight is on heating, boilers and air conditioning, there are specific themes that speak that language: AirTech and Airify.
If as well as repairing you do contracted maintenance, the model changes and it is worth looking at how Poolax frames it, selling a recurring contract rather than a one-off call-out.
And for the part the website does not cover: MotoPress Appointment Booking manages the diary with reminders for planned work, and Cost Calculator Builder gives a refit estimate on the spot, which is precisely what somebody comparing three quotes is asking for.
Frequently asked questions
What belongs at the top of the homepage?
The tappable phone number and the call-out hours. Whoever has a leak does not scroll.
Is it suitable for planned work as well as emergencies?
Yes, but the two routes belong separated rather than mixed into one homepage.
Should the call-out charge be stated?
Yes. It is where reviews get lost when it gets argued on the doorstep.
Does it include an appointment diary?
No. It gets added with a plugin, and it serves planned work better than emergencies.
How do I get found in my neighbourhood?
With a page per area and service, and above all a well-kept business listing in the search engine.
What pays back more, the site or the search listing?
For emergencies, the listing. The website works planned jobs better.
