One person buys the gift card and another receives it
That detail, which looks minor, is where most shops fall down. The customer buys a fifty euro voucher for their sister, and the email with the code arrives to them. They have to forward it by hand, or worse, print it. And if they bought it on the 20th for a birthday on the 3rd, remembering is on them.
This add-on solves both: it sends the voucher to whoever should receive it, on the right day.
What it adds
- A recipient different from the buyer, with their name and email collected during the purchase itself.
- A personal message, written by the buyer and delivered with the card.
- Scheduled sending, three ways: after a fixed delay, on a specific date, or on the day the customer picks from a calendar.
- Editable emails, with your own subject and body and codes that insert the recipient's name, the value and the voucher code.
The first thing to check
It is an add-on to an add-on. It needs Flexible PDF Coupons PRO installed and working, which is what actually generates the PDF vouchers. This only handles the sending. If you do not yet have the base plugin, this does nothing on its own.
What to review before the Christmas campaign
That the emails arrive. A voucher scheduled for 24 December that lands in the spam folder is an angry customer on Christmas Day, and you do not find out until they call. Before a campaign it is worth checking your domain's sending configuration and running a real test across several email providers.
The legal treatment of vouchers. Gift cards have their own rules on expiry and on how the tax is declared, which also change depending on whether the voucher covers one type of product or the whole catalogue. Worth a conversation with your adviser before putting them on sale, not after the first quarter.
