About Foodota – Online Food Delivery WordPress Theme

Building your city's Deliveroo: the easy part and the hard part

The easy part is the website. Foodota ships the restaurant catalogue, the menus, the cart and the payment already built on WooCommerce, with a dashboard for each restaurant to manage its own.

The hard part is everything else: persuading the first twenty restaurants to sign up when you have no customers yet, getting customers when you have no restaurants yet, and organising who carries the food. Worth knowing what you are up against before looking at the demo.

What comes solved

  • Several restaurants on one site, through the WCFM multivendor marketplace system, each with its own dashboard.
  • Restaurant pages with their menu organised by categories and subcategories.
  • Nearby search, with a configurable radius, the first thing a hungry customer does.
  • Opening hours, with a notice when the restaurant is closed, so nobody orders at three in the morning.
  • Special instructions at checkout, which with food is essential: no onion, broken doorbell, leave at reception.

It is edited with Elementor and ships several different homepages.

What it does not include and has to be solved

Delivery. The theme calculates the shipping cost and marks which vendors deliver, but it does not manage riders: it assigns orders to nobody, offers no live tracking, has no rider app. That layer is separate development, or gets solved by letting each restaurant deliver with its own means, which is the model that works for many local projects.

The kitchen. Getting the order to the restaurant and having somebody see it is a real problem. An email does not solve it at peak time. You have to decide how they get alerted: ticket printer, audible alert on a tablet, or a phone call.

Food information. Selling food requires declaring allergens. In a marketplace with several restaurants that has to be demanded of each vendor, with the terms making clear where the responsibility sits.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work for a single restaurant?
Yes, though it is built for several. With just one you will be paying for complexity you do not use.

Does it need any particular plugin?
Yes, WooCommerce and WCFM Marketplace for the multivendor side.

Does it manage delivery riders?
No. It calculates shipping and marks who delivers, but delivery logistics is separate.

Can the customer search for nearby restaurants?
Yes, with proximity search and a configurable radius.
