About FooEvents PDF Tickets

The ticket email gets lost just when it is needed most

Anyone who sells tickets knows how it ends: the attendee reaches the door, can't find the email, has no signal, and the queue grows behind them. A ticket that only lives inside the body of an HTML email is hard to save, hard to print well and hard to show from a phone. FooEvents PDF Tickets turns that ticket into an attached file the buyer can save, download or bring on paper.

What ticket buyers do with a PDF that they don't do with an email

Many attendees don't trust their inbox on the day of the event: they prefer a copy on their phone, a printed one, or one they can forward to a friend. A PDF covers all three without asking anything more of you. And as the organizer, you save yourself messages like «can you resend my ticket?».

FooEvents PDF Tickets features and where they end

  • Automatic attachment: the PDF is generated and attached to the ticket email the attendee receives after purchase.
  • One per ticket or all in one: when an order includes several tickets, you choose between a separate PDF for each one or a single document with all of them. The first works well if each attendee is a different person; the second, if one person hands out or prints everything.
  • Works alongside the HTML email: the attendee sees the details in the email body and also has the PDF attached.
  • Download from My Account and from the order confirmation page: customers can get their ticket back without searching their inbox.
  • Customizable HTML templates: layout, styling, branding and ticket details can be adjusted to your event, and you can also use compatible FooEvents Ticket Themes.
  • Western, Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters in the PDF.

It needs FooEvents for WooCommerce

It doesn't work on its own: it is an extension of the main FooEvents for WooCommerce plugin, which must be installed and active, so you also need WooCommerce. It isn't a ticket-selling system by itself, nor does it replace access control: it only changes the format in which the ticket arrives.

Questions buyers ask before adding it

Can I use it without FooEvents for WooCommerce?

No. It is an extension and depends on the main plugin.

Does it replace the HTML ticket email?

It doesn't have to. You can use the PDF together with the default FooEvents HTML email.

Can I send one PDF per attendee?

Yes. You can also group all the tickets in the order into a single PDF.

Can I change how the ticket looks?

Yes, because the PDF is built from an HTML template. With basic HTML and CSS knowledge you can adjust the layout and details, or rely on a compatible ticket theme.

Is it suitable for events in other languages?

It supports Western characters as well as Chinese, Japanese and Korean ones.

Design the template before opening sales

The practical approach is to test the whole flow before publishing the event: place a test purchase with several tickets, open the PDF on a phone and print it too. Check that the essentials read well (event name, date, venue and code) and decide whether you prefer one PDF per attendee or a combined one. If you change the template, repeat the test, because a detail that gets cut off when printing is better found before the first customer buys.
