About FooEvents Seating
Selling tickets for a theatre, a talk or a dinner with assigned tables gets complicated as soon as two people want the same seat. With a spreadsheet and a trail of emails you end up with duplicate seats, guests who don't know where to sit and a chaotic entrance on the day of the event. FooEvents Seating adds seat selection to the purchase process of FooEvents for WooCommerce.
If you manage fixed seating, you sell a map, not just a ticket
At an event with numbered seats, buyers don't only pay to get in: they pay to be in the row they want, or next to whoever is coming with them. This plugin is built for that case: theatres, shows, conferences, talks or workshops where seating is assigned.
Seating groups, rows and tables that mirror your venue
You build the layout with groups such as rows, tables or areas, and define labels, quantities and layout details to match your venue. The features that matter most:
- Seat selection on the product page: the customer picks their seats and must do so before reaching checkout.
- Automatic reservation: once purchased, the seat is linked to the ticket and the order, which helps prevent it from being sold twice.
- Manual availability: you mark individual seats as available or unavailable.
- Product variations: you can link seats to WooCommerce variations to offer pricing options. You can also show the full venue as context.
- Seating chart link at checkout: the customer reviews the chosen layout before completing the order.
The seat travels with the ticket
Seat information appears in ticket emails and in attendee records. The buyer knows where they are sitting and event staff can quickly confirm it if there is any doubt at the door. It's a small detail that saves arguments at the entrance.
Without FooEvents for WooCommerce it won't run
It is an extension, not a standalone plugin. It needs FooEvents for WooCommerce installed and active, and therefore WooCommerce. What it already solves and what you need to cover separately:
- Already solved: creating seating groups, choosing a seat at purchase, blocking the sold seat, manual availability, seat shown on the ticket and in attendees.
- Provided by the base plugin: the management of events, tickets and attendees in FooEvents for WooCommerce.
- Other FooEvents extensions: features such as PDF tickets, custom attendee fields or time-slot bookings are separate extensions.
- Up to you: designing the layout to match your real venue, the price of each area and deciding which seats are offered on each date.
If your event has no assigned seats, for example standing general admission, you don't need this plugin.
