About GetPaid Advertising

Selling ads on your website without closing every ad by email

Giving an advertiser a banner often ends in a chain of emails: here is my image, here is the link, how long will it run?, the invoice comes separately and someone checks by hand whether the ad is still visible. GetPaid Advertising is an add-on for the GetPaid plugin that turns those gaps on your site into spaces that advertisers book, pay for and manage on their own.

Ad space is inventory that expires every day: if it is not filled today, that day is gone. That is why it matters more to keep the space always for sale, with a clear charging model, than to negotiate a single ad well.

GetPaid Advertising: four formats and one prerequisite

These are the formats you can sell or display:

  • Text: designed for small zones where only a line fits. The whole text can be the link.
  • Image: the classic banner.
  • HTML: it accepts JavaScript code, which is what external networks such as Google AdSense require. Since you can moderate each ad before publishing it, you can also let the advertiser paste their own code, for example a YouTube video.
  • Listings: with GeoDirectory and its Pricing Manager, an ad zone can be part of a premium listing package. One example is a zone above the search results, with organic and paid results in the style of Google.

Be clear about the limits. It is an add-on: it needs the GetPaid plugin to charge and invoice. Listing ads only work if you have GeoDirectory and Pricing Manager. And it does not include bidding to rank the ads: the order is not decided by auction. If you accept third-party HTML, prior moderation is your only safeguard, so review each piece of code before approving it.

Zones, automatic rules, shortcodes and blocks to place each ad

First you create zones: the places on your site where ads will be shown. Then you place them with automatic rules, with a code snippet in your templates, or with shortcodes and blocks if you work with a page builder.

Charging can be based on the number of impressions, on clicks or on time on your site.

A dashboard where advertisers create and review their ads

The add-on creates a dashboard for your advertisers: from there they create new ads, manage the ones they already have and check statistics and reports. GetPaid handles the transaction and the invoicing. Whoever pays sees what they are getting without asking you for screenshots or summaries.

Questions to ask before setting up your ad zones

Is it only for selling spaces or also for showing AdSense?

For both. You can sell ads hosted on your site or display ads from external networks such as Google AdSense through an HTML-type ad.

Does it work without GetPaid?

No. It is an add-on for GetPaid and depends on it.

Do I need GeoDirectory?

Only if you want to sell listing ads. Text, image and HTML ads do not require it.

Can I review an ad before it is published?

Yes, each ad can be moderated before it appears on your site.

Zones are defined before the first ad

Before opening sales, decide three things: which zones exist and which format each one accepts (text in small spaces, banners where an image fits), how each zone is charged and whether you will allow HTML from advertisers. Then place the zones with a rule, a code snippet or a block, and test one of your own ads in each before offering it to the public.
