About GetPaid > Custom Item Success Page
After payment you know something new: what they bought
You sell a template, a consultation and a course with GetPaid. Three different buyers finish paying and all three see the same confirmation page, written to suit anyone. The person who bought the consultation does not know how to book their session, and the one who bought the template never learns that an installation service exists.
A shared thank-you page leaves unused the most concrete fact you have about that person: what they just chose. With that fact you can tell them the next step of their purchase, rather than a message that fits everyone.
Custom Item Success Page is a GetPaid add-on that redirects the buyer to a different success page based on the item they paid for. It does not design those pages or add new charges: you create them and the add-on decides where each purchase lands.
One address per item, and the general page for the rest
Once the add-on is active, each GetPaid item gains a new field for the URL of its success page. Everything revolves around that field:
- Its own page per item: each individual item can have its own unique success page.
- Automatic redirect: the buyer reaches the matching page after paying for that item.
- Empty field: the buyer goes to the success page configured in GetPaid.
- External pages: the address does not have to be on your site or domain.
The empty field saves you work, because you are not forced to prepare a page for the whole catalog. You can start with the items that have something useful to say and leave the others on the general page.
What to put on each success page
The add-on only takes the person there; the value depends on what they find on arrival. Here are three ways to use it:
- An upgrade to the purchased item: buyers of item A see paid upgrades to that same item, such as premium support or enhanced documentation.
- A personalized page: a message tailored to each item, or only to some, to improve the buyer's experience.
- A third-party service: a TypeForm page or another external tool, since the destination can be outside your site.
Give each page a single purpose. If the buyer has to take a step to use what they paid for, put that first and leave any extra offer for later.
A redirect after payment, nothing more
It helps to be clear about the scope so you do not ask for what it does not do:
- You make the page. You can use any page builder and style it however you like.
- The address is only an address. Its features do not include protecting that page. If you put something exclusive to buyers on it, check who can open it by typing the URL.
One case deserves its own test. GetPaid lets you sell several items with a single Buy Now button, so if you combine items with different pages, make a test purchase and see where the buyer lands.
GetPaid first, the address next
You need WordPress with the main GetPaid plugin and this add-on installed and active. The rest is three steps:
- Create the success page on your site with any builder, or prepare the external address you plan to use.
- Open the item in GetPaid and paste the URL into the new field.
- Save the item. Customers who pay for it are redirected to your page automatically.
Also review the default page under GetPaid > Settings > General > Page Settings, because it is the one items with an empty field will show.
Your store decides which add-on fits
Within GetPaid, Simple Quantity Discounts works before the purchase: it sets prices by quantity on the item itself.
If you sell with WooCommerce, this add-on is not for you, because it acts on GetPaid items. YITH Custom Thank You Page shows different thank-you pages with rules by product, category or variation, and lets you set which one takes priority if a customer buys several products with their own page.
GetPaid redirects, case by case
Do I have to create a page for each item?
No. If you leave the field empty, the buyer goes to the general GetPaid success page.
Can the page be on another domain?
Yes. It can be outside your site, for example on TypeForm or another service.
Does it work without GetPaid?
No. It is a GetPaid extension and needs the main plugin active.
