About Give Peer-to-Peer
Your contact list has a ceiling, your supporters' networks do not
Almost every nonprofit ends up asking the same people: the mailing list, the usual donors, the organization's own social channels. Meanwhile, every volunteer, member or grateful person has their own circle of relatives, colleagues and friends who have never heard of you. And it is harder to say no to a friend than to an institutional email. Give Peer-to-Peer takes advantage of that closeness.
It is an add-on for Give (GiveWP) that lets your community raise funds for you from your own website, either individually or through team campaigns.
Give Peer-to-Peer: one page, one goal and tools to share it
Each fundraiser gets their own campaign page, a personal goal and the means to spread it. In practice:
- Customizable page: the supporter adapts their page, sets a goal and starts raising.
- Built-in sharing: email and social media options so they can reach their network of contacts.
- Tracking per fundraiser: you see each person's progress, total raised and reach.
The key is the message: the fundraiser tells their own story and why your cause matters to them, something no institutional campaign achieves in the same way. Your job becomes giving them encouragement, ideas and recognition, not writing every message.
Leaderboards and teams: motivating, but not for everyone
The add-on includes public leaderboards to highlight the top fundraisers and team campaigns to encourage friendly competition and multiply reach. They work well in group challenges where people cheer each other on: a company, a class, a club.
Think first about whether you want to show publicly who raises the most. Someone who raises little may feel exposed and give up, and for sensitive causes a ranking table can feel out of tone. If in doubt, start with teams and celebrate collective achievements.
Since the campaigns depend on people, you will need to spend time on those who fundraise: thank them, send them news and show the impact of what they have achieved.
Is Give Peer-to-Peer enough or do you need something more?
It is the right piece if you already receive donations with Give and want your supporters to work for you. It is not if you are looking for a donation site from scratch without Give: it is an add-on and does not work on its own. The add-on does not replace donor management or receipts. Check in the demo whether you can review fundraisers' pages before they are published, an important detail if you are concerned about your image.
Does it work without Give installed?
No. It is an add-on for Give (GiveWP) and needs Give to be active on your WordPress site.
Do my supporters need technical knowledge?
The process is designed so they can customize their own page, set their goal and share the link by email or social media, without you stepping in at every stage.
Can I see how much each person has raised?
Yes. You will see each fundraiser's progress, total raised and reach, and you can recognize the top performers.
Does it support team campaigns?
Yes. Besides individual campaigns, you can create team campaigns and show public leaderboards.
