About Gravity Perks Advanced Calculations
When your form has to do real math
A quote you work out by hand after the form arrives, a loan simulator whose figures don't add up, or a formula so tangled nobody dares touch it. Gravity Perks Advanced Calculations extends the Gravity Forms calculation engine so your form does the work you currently do in a spreadsheet.
Spreadsheet-style math functions
You can use spreadsheet-style math directly in the field, including date and time calculations. The function families it includes:
- Rounding and precision: absolute value, rounding, ceiling and floor.
- Aggregates: average, maximum and minimum.
- Exponents and logarithms: exponential, logarithm, natural logarithm and square root.
- Financial: future value, useful for savings or mortgages.
- Trigonometry: sine, cosine, tangent and their inverses, plus pi.
- Dates and times: age, difference between dates, weekdays, weekend days, difference between times, date and time combination, timezone conversion, and the current date and time.
With that you can build mortgage calculators, loan calculators based on amount, interest and length, retirement or investment calculators, BMI calculators with selectable units, cost estimators or donation tax break calculators.
Conditions inside the formula
You can write if/else or if/elseif/else, with as many elseif branches as you need, and return a different formula depending on what the user chose. It supports the usual comparison operators (equal, not equal, greater, less, greater or equal, less or equal) and combining expressions with && and ||.
Details when comparing text
With text strings, the comparison is case-sensitive, but it ignores spaces at the start and end. It works with single-value fields, such as drop downs and radio buttons.
An editor that stays readable
The formula editor highlights syntax, autocompletes and allows a short notation to refer to fields: instead of the full merge tag, you write F1. In long formulas, you notice it when reviewing them months later.
In addition, calculations are run again on submission, so what the user sees on screen can't be tampered with to alter the saved result. It applies to fields with calculation enabled, such as Number and Calculated Product.
It needs Gravity Forms and Gravity Perks
It is an add-on, it doesn't work on its own. Here is what it solves and what is left to you:
- It solves: math functions, dates and times, conditions, short notation, an editor with highlighting and recalculation on submission.
- You provide: Gravity Forms as the base and Gravity Perks as the platform that loads it.
- You provide: writing the formulas. It's not a visual wizard: you have to write the logic, with a syntax worth learning.
- You provide: checking that the results are right. A financial simulator with a badly designed formula gives wrong figures with complete confidence.
If your simulator is going to show loan or investment figures, it's wise to state clearly that they are indicative estimates.

Yes, it is case-sensitive, but it ignores leading and trailing spaces.
Can the result be tampered with from the browser?
Calculations are run again on submission, so the saved value is obtained anew.
