About Gravity Perks Advanced Phone Field
Fake phone numbers, missing country codes and a form that can't be used to call anyone
A contact form that collects phone numbers without validating them ends up filling your CRM with made-up numbers, with an extra zero or no country code. Your sales rep wastes the afternoon calling numbers that don't exist. Gravity Perks Advanced Phone Field changes the Gravity Forms Phone field so the number arrives complete, correctly formatted and checked.
A lead with a fake phone number isn't a lead, it's a cost. The sooner it's filtered out, the less time is wasted later.
How Gravity Perks Advanced Phone Field works in the Phone field
It is enabled field by field: add a Phone field, open its settings, go to the Perks section and check the option to enable Advanced Phone Field.
- Real validation: on submission, it checks the format for the country and that the number is real. If it isn't, the form is not submitted and the field asks for a valid number.
- Country selector with flags: a drop down at the start of the field. If the visitor types a dial code, for example +506, the flag and country change by themselves.
- Default country: by default it is detected from the visitor's location (GeoIP), or you set one yourself.
- Preferred and limited countries: you can move some countries to the top of the list, allow only a selection, or exclude a few.
What extra data is saved with each number
When the form is submitted, the plugin saves information about the number with the entry:
- Country code and two-letter region code.
- Type: landline or mobile.
- National number, with and without the country's standard format.
- Full number without formatting.
- Geographic description and carrier.
This data can be shown as columns in the entry list, used in notification conditional logic or inserted with merge tag modifiers in confirmations and notifications. Note: not all data exists for every number, so don't build a flow that always depends on the carrier or city.
What it offers depending on your situation
If you sell to several countries
Put your market countries first, leave the rest below, and spare customers from hunting for their dial code in an alphabetical list. With automatic formatting, the number always arrives in the same style.
If you only serve one area
Limit the list to the countries where you operate. That way you don't receive phone numbers from places you can't call or serve.
If you manage bookings or job applications
A verified phone number in booking or job forms avoids failed calls. With the line type you can, for example, send a different notification if the number is mobile or landline.
If you want to split leads by region
With the metadata in conditional logic, sending the notification to one team or another depending on the country is a single rule.
Frequently asked questions
What does it mean that the number is real?
It doesn't just have an acceptable format for its country: it is checked to correspond to a valid number. Expect fewer fakes and fewer typing mistakes.
Does it work without Gravity Forms?
No. It is an add-on for the Gravity Forms Phone field and needs that plugin.
Does it affect all forms?
Activation is per field, but the default country, preferred countries and limits are set in Forms > Settings > Adv Phone Field and apply to all forms.
Can validation be disabled or the format customized?
Yes, through code snippets, which also cover other cases such as showing all countries in a specific field or enabling country search.
Country settings are global, not per form
If one form needs a different country list than the rest, the panel doesn't solve it: you need a snippet to change the default country or show all countries in a specific field. Also, access to the settings depends on the plugin's own user capabilities, so if an editor doesn't see the options, check their permissions.
