About GravityRevisions

An entry edited by mistake and the original data is gone

When several people work on Gravity Forms entries, sooner or later someone fixes a field they shouldn't have, overwrites a colleague's data or deletes a value nobody had copied. You usually find out weeks later, when the client complains.

The entry is the only record of what a person submitted. If every edit overwrites the previous one, you have no history, just the latest version and the doubt of whether it is the right one. GravityRevisions turns that silent edit into a change with an author, a date and the previous content.

History, comparison and restoration in GravityRevisions

The plugin records changes to forms and entries. It serves four different purposes:

  • Knowing who and when: each change is tied to the person who made it and the moment it happened.
  • Comparing versions side by side: you see what was modified before deciding whether it was a mistake or a legitimate correction.
  • Restoring with one click: you can go back to any previous version of an entry or a form.
  • Email alerts: you can set up real-time notifications when an entry is edited.

Front-end revisions only appear with GravityView

If your users work with entries from public pages built with GravityView, revisions can be displayed there thanks to the integration between the two.

If your team has a developer, the plugin offers hooks and filters designed for your own approval and audit workflows. On its own it gives you the history and the restoration, not a ready-made approval process.

Is GravityRevisions worth it if you already use Gravity Forms?

It is an add-on: it needs Gravity Forms and does not work on its own. It makes sense if more than one person edits entries, if those entries have value (requests, orders, registrations) or if you need to explain what happened to a piece of data. If only you see the entries and rarely touch them, it will add little. Check in the demo how the comparison is presented before deciding.

Can I see who changed an entry?

Yes. The history records what was changed, who did it and when.

Can I restore an old version?

Yes, with one click you can go back to any previous version of an entry or a form.

Does it work without Gravity Forms?

No. It is a Gravity Forms add-on and depends on it.

Does it notify me when someone edits an entry?

Yes, you can set up email notifications for entry edits.
