About GravityView Featured Entries

When every listing in your directory looks the same, nobody pays to stand out

A directory built with Gravity Forms and GravityView lists entries in whatever order you choose. The trouble starts when someone wants more visibility than the rest and there is no way to give it to them. A list sorted by neutral criteria is exactly the product you cannot sell better, because position is not negotiable. GravityView Featured Entries solves that: mark an entry as featured and it stays pinned to the top of the View, with a look that sets it apart.

What GravityView Featured Entries does in your directory

It is a GravityView extension. It adds a "featured" status to Gravity Forms entries and makes those entries appear first and highlighted in the public view.

  • Pinned on top: featured entries are placed at the start of the View automatically, with no manual reordering.
  • Turn on and off instantly: the status is changed from the WordPress admin, so you can feature or remove an entry whenever the deal with the advertiser changes.
  • Your own style: the highlight adapts to your brand with simple CSS adjustments.
  • No coding: you do not need code to pin entries.

What it needs to work

It does not work on its own: it depends on Gravity Forms, because the entries come from there, and on GravityView, because the View is what displays them. Nor does it charge for you: it includes no payment gateway and does not handle the purchase of a featured spot. If you want to sell that position, you handle payment with your own system and then mark the entry. The status change is made by you from the admin; there is no panel for advertisers to feature themselves. The visual effect is a highlight that you adjust with CSS, so if you want badges or very elaborate designs you will have to write them.

Frequently asked questions before buying

Do I need GravityView and Gravity Forms?

Yes. It is a GravityView extension and works on Gravity Forms entries, so without both it has nothing to display.

Can I charge for appearing at the top?

It is one of the uses it suggests: offering featured positions as a premium service. The extension takes care of position and highlighting; you handle payment separately.

Does it apply to every View?

It is designed to pin entries to the top of a View. Check in the demo how it behaves with your listing setup.

Can I change how a featured entry looks?

Yes, with simple CSS adjustments so the highlight matches your brand.

What kind of directory gets the most out of it

It pays off in listings where some entries are worth more to you than others: members paying for a higher tier, partner promotions, priority properties or services. If all entries carry the same weight, or you already sort by a date that matters a lot, pinning some to the top may be unnecessary.

Featuring an entry means marking it, not reconfiguring the View

Decide beforehand how many pinned entries you will allow at the top: if you feature too many, the result goes back to looking like a list with no hierarchy. Test the style with one or two entries and adjust the CSS before offering it to anyone.
