About GretaThemes – TheFour
Someone who lands on the website of a small company or a studio decides on a single screen whether to keep reading or go back to Google. Many business sites waste that moment with a generic banner, a long menu and the message buried three scrolls down.
The front page is the only thing most people will see
That is the starting point of GretaThemes TheFour: a clean theme for business websites where the top area can be built the way you want. If you sell services, what visitors need to see up there is not your logo in a big size, but what you do, who it is for and how to contact you. A theme that forces you to fill a slider with three stock images pushes you in exactly the opposite direction.
A flexible header and the rest of TheFour's features
The flexible header accepts any content in the main area and you can style it however you like. Around it there are other features with a clear use:
- Responsive design: it adapts to desktop, tablet and mobile, and works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
- Portfolio: shows your work on the public side, relying on Jetpack.
- Testimonials: gathers customer opinions on the site.
- 800+ Google Fonts: typefaces with customization options.
- Custom colors: you change the colors of any element without touching code.
- Your own logo from the WordPress customizer.
- Infinite scroll on the blog, in automatic or manual mode.
Now the limits, worth knowing before you decide. The portfolio depends on Jetpack: without that plugin you will not have that section. Infinite scroll, portfolio, testimonials, custom fonts and custom colors are PRO version features; the free version does not include them. And it is a presentation theme: it is not a store or a booking system, and it does not come with a visual builder of its own. If you need pages with very different layouts from one another, look at the demo carefully first.
It also works as a classic blog, with a main content area and a sidebar, and it is ready for translation and widgets.
Questions from people about to install it
Is it for a blog or only for businesses?
For both. It includes a blog layout with main content and a sidebar, although it is designed mainly for business websites.
Do I need Jetpack?
Only if you want the portfolio. The other features do not require it, but the theme is designed to work well alongside that plugin.
Can I change colors and typefaces?
Yes, in the PRO version: colors for any element and more than 800 Google Fonts, without writing code.
Can I use it on client websites?
Yes, it is a general-purpose theme. If you are going to build it for clients regularly, you will need to check which plan covers several sites.
The demo imports in one click, but the message on your front page is yours to write
The theme includes a demo importer so you can start from a site that is already built instead of an empty page. It is a good shortcut, but the message on your front page is yours to write. Before you start, prepare three things: a clear sentence saying what you do, your logo and photos of your work if you are going to use the portfolio.
Then install Jetpack if you want a portfolio, adjust colors and fonts to your brand and replace the content of the top area with your real proposition. Check the result on mobile: that is where most visitors will see your front page.
