About HivePress SEO
In a directory you don't write the content, and Google notices
In a directory or marketplace, the pages are created by your vendors and users: every listing, every profile, every request. You don't write those titles or descriptions, and if nobody controls them, hundreds of pages end up looking the same to a search engine. An SEO plugin designed for ordinary posts and pages doesn't know what a listing is or which attributes it has.
HivePress SEO is a HivePress extension that optimizes exactly that native content: listing, vendor and request pages. The right approach in this business is to work from the attributes that already exist on each page, not page by page.
Titles, descriptions and robots for listings, vendors and requests
The extension lets you add custom meta tags to those three types of page:
- Titles
- Descriptions
- Robots directives
Structured data from the attributes in HivePress SEO
Structured data is the information that helps Google understand what each page is. With HivePress SEO you map the attributes of your listings, vendors or requests to Schema properties. If a listing has a custom field, you connect it to the property that matches.
In addition, the extension automatically adds Schema properties based on the HivePress extensions you have installed. The examples are locations, reviews and offers. In other words, if your site already uses those features, you don't have to describe them by hand.
What to keep in mind with reviews
Reviews marked up as structured data must be real and come from genuine users. Publishing fake ratings can lead to penalties from Google and legal trouble.
Use it alone or alongside Rank Math or Yoast SEO
You can install it as your only SEO solution or let it work next to Rank Math or Yoast SEO.
You still provide the content of each listing
The extension organizes how the information is presented, but it doesn't make it up. This breakdown shows what it covers and what it doesn't:
- The extension solves: meta titles, descriptions and robots on listings, vendors and requests; mapping attributes to Schema; automatic properties based on your HivePress extensions.
- You cover: getting vendors to fill in complete attributes, with good text and photos; a content and link strategy to attract visits.
- You cover with another plugin or by hand: the SEO of pages that aren't part of HivePress, such as a blog or the home page, with your usual SEO plugin.
If your listings arrive with three lines and no attributes, no meta tag or Schema will fix that. And of course, you need HivePress installed, because this is one of its extensions and doesn't work on its own.
