About HT QR Code Generator for WordPress
A QR code nobody can scan is worse than having none
Putting a QR code on a website seems trivial until you scan it: low-contrast colors, a huge logo covering the center, a link that leads to a different page than the one you wanted. And when you need one for several things (your WhatsApp, a location, the current page, a contact card), you end up pasting images made on external sites that you later don't know how to update.
HT QR Code Generator for WordPress creates the codes from the dashboard itself and displays them with an Elementor widget, a WordPress widget, a shortcode or a Gutenberg block. The code lives on your site, next to the rest of your content.
What each code can contain
Not every QR is a link. The plugin generates codes for:
- Custom text or link and the current page URL.
- Social media profiles.
- Mail-to link, email message, phone call and SMS.
- Skype contact.
- WiFi access.
- Calendar event.
- Contact information (including mobile number).
- Google location.
The useful part is the types that save the visitor typing: whoever scans the contact one saves the details on their phone without typing them. For a local business whose customers always ask the same things, it's a cheap way to answer from a sign or from the website.
Code design: attractive, but don't overdo it
HT QR Code Generator for WordPress lets you customize the look quite a lot:
- Dot style and background color.
- Logo and background image.
- Fill and border color on the position and alignment patterns.
- Color of the timing patterns, vertical and horizontal.
- Quiet zone (the blank margin around the code), plus a border with color, width and height.
The more you decorate, the harder it can be for some cameras to read. Keep a clear contrast between dots and background, use a small logo and test the result on two or three different phones before publishing or printing.
Download, print and languages
Each code can have a button to download or print it, which can be enabled or disabled separately and accepts its own style. It's handy if you want visitors to take the QR away for a flyer or a sign, and you can turn it off if you only want it scanned on screen. The plugin includes multilingual support.
Deciding whether a static QR generator is enough for you
This plugin generates and displays codes; it is not a campaign tool. It's worth being clear about that before installing it.
Does it tell me how many times a code has been scanned?
If you need to measure a campaign, point to a URL with tracking parameters or use a separate analytics tool.
Do I need Elementor?
No. You can use the WordPress widget, a shortcode or a Gutenberg block. The Elementor widget is just one more option.
Is it good for printing on a sign?
It has a download and print button, but for a large format check in the demo the quality of the file you get and scan it at the real viewing distance.
Can I change the destination after printing?
The content is stored inside the code itself, so if you change the destination you will need to generate a new one. If the link may change, point to a page of your own that you can redirect.
Is it useful for a shop or a local business?
Yes, to lead to a location, a phone number, WhatsApp or a specific page. It does not replace an ordering or booking system.
