Someone receives a dismissal letter or a claim from a business partner, and what they type into the search box is their problem, not the name of a firm. When they open a law firm's website they want to check one thing: whether it deals with their matter. If they have to work that out from a text about history and values, they keep looking.

Inside, a firm thinks in partners and teams; from outside, all that shows is the matter worrying the person arriving. That is why the piece holding up a legal website is the page for each practice area, so write it with care.

Juris, by GT3themes, is an Elementor theme dedicated to the legal sector and it starts from that structure: areas, cases and lawyers have their place from the demo menu onward.

Five demos and the pages of a law firm

• Five home pages: Main, Classic, Attorney, Modern and Classic II, with different styles and layouts.

• Headers: its own builder to create several and assign them to different pages, with an optional sticky menu.

How to divide up the firm's content

One page per matter. The demo carries examples such as corporate law, data privacy, litigation, employment law, intellectual property and international law. Replace them with what you actually do and write each page in the words your client would use.

Cases that explain the type of matter. The cases section lets you show the kind of work you take on. Review carefully what you can publish about each one.

One profile per lawyer. Someone about to hire you wants to know who will handle their matter, so each professional deserves a page, linked from the matters they cover.

Two pages you will need to finish

The demo includes an Appointment page and a Pay Bill page, and their names promise more than they do.

Appointment is a contact form. It asks for name, email, subject and message, with no date, time or calendar. If you want clients to reserve a slot, you will need a separate booking system.

Pay Bill is an informational page. It shows text about paying invoices online and a questions form, but has no fields for amount, invoice or card. You will have to link your own payment method.

The demo shows no shop either, and its images may not come in the package, so plan on your own photos.

Recommended server and getting it running

The recommendation is PHP 8.0 or later, MySQL 5.7 or MariaDB 10.3 onward, HTTPS and Apache or Nginx. The PHP values are max_execution_time 600, memory_limit 512M, upload_max_filesize 32M and max_input_vars 3000. Elementor compatibility is not guaranteed on GoDaddy or Namecheap hosting.

To load the demo:

1. Deactivate and remove the standard WordPress import and export plugin.
2. Deactivate caching and optimization plugins.
3. Go to the theme options panel, open Demo Importer and import the content.
4. If the menu is not assigned, select Main Menu under Appearance, Menus.
5. Choose the home page and posts page under Settings, Reading.
6. Import any missing sliders by hand: they are in the main theme zip.

More legal themes and booking with Amelia

Before commissioning the firm's website

Does it work for a solo lawyer?

Yes. One of the home pages is called Attorney, and the team sections can stay at a single profile.

Can I work with another builder?

The theme is made on Elementor, and its pages and widgets are edited there. With another builder you would have to rebuild them.

Can it be translated?

Yes. It has translation support and works with WPML to take the site into several languages.
