About Lara WordPress Theme
For the editor of a Turkish lifestyle portal, not for someone who wants a plain blog
Building a portal about beauty, health, fashion and astrology often ends in a chaotic front page: every section carries the same weight, ads get stuck wherever they fit and readers don't know where to go next. Lara is designed for that kind of magazine site with many categories and lots of content. Its demos are in Turkish and the sample categories (Aşk ve İlişkiler, Astroloji, Güzellik, Hamilelik, Makyaj, Moda, Saç Bakımı, Sağlık, Yemek Tarifleri) point to a specific audience: readers of lifestyle content.
If you want a personal blog with few posts, a minimalist theme or a corporate website, most of it is overkill. And if your portal isn't in Turkish, you will have to replace the demo texts and section names, which come in that language.
A front page with a block of color for each section
Lara's front page is organized in category blocks: a headline area (Manşet), modules for Aşk ve İlişkiler, Güzellik, Hamilelik, Astroloji, a photo gallery, a video gallery and a list-style topics block. Each post shows its date and a read counter, which gives a magazine portal a sense of activity.
This works when you publish a lot across different topics, because each topic gets its own space and doesn't compete with the others. There is also a summary block: under each post title you can show an excerpt, filled in from the Özet (excerpt) field in the post editor. If you leave it empty, the demo shows sample text, so fill it in for every article.
Lara WordPress Theme and content that isn't just text
- Photo and video galleries: dedicated sections in the menu, with a Lightbox viewer for images.
- Authors: a block with the writers, their latest piece and a link to see them all. Useful if your portal has regular bylines.
- Horoscope: a zodiac signs section with their dates.
- Membership: the demo includes user pages and user-submitted content.
- Ad spaces: areas marked as Reklam Alanı where you can place ads on the front page.
Be careful with health and beauty content
The demo mixes health advice, treatments and diets with beauty and fashion. If you publish something similar, keep in mind that medical content (symptoms, diseases, treatments) demands rigor and often review by a professional. Lara only gives you the storefront: responsibility for what you publish is yours. The demos also include a legal notice page (Yasal Uyarı) and a maintenance mode (Bakım Modu) so you can work on the site without showing it.
What to check before building your portal with Lara
It's a portal theme, so assume you will fill many categories with content. With few posts, the blocks look empty. Check in the demo how the sections look with your real categories and whether the menu holds up with so many options on mobile.
