About Larry. – Personal WordPress Theme

You are a freelancer and your website needs to fit on a single page

Many independent professionals lose jobs because their website is a maze: the client arrives from a link, cannot find work similar to their own and leaves. Larry takes the opposite approach: one single page that you scroll from top to bottom, with an intro, about me, services, works, testimonials and contact.

It suits you if you are a designer, developer or independent professional and want a serious business card with your best projects. It does not suit you if you need a shop, a blog with many posts as the core of the site or an inner page for each service: the demo revolves around a personal page and a portfolio. Nor is it for an agency with a team, because the whole approach is written in the first person (the demo introduces itself with «Hi, I'm...»).

The Larry tour, from the header to the form

  • Header with your name, your profession and a contact button.
  • About-you block with skill bars and buttons to view the resume and download the CV.
  • Services in blocks with icons (the demo uses Font Awesome).
  • Recent works with a category filter.
  • Client testimonials.
  • Contact with phone, address, email and a form.

The top menu leads to each of those sections. The form opens in a pop-up window and shows a notice for a successful send or for an error, which is useful because the visitor knows whether their message went through. The demo also includes a color picker; check whether you can keep it in your installation or whether it is just a demo extra.

A portfolio you can filter by type of work

Larry shows projects in a grid with filter buttons. In the demo the categories are Digital, Branding, Marketing, Video and Stationery Design, but they are examples: what matters is that a branding client can see only branding without scrolling through everything else. That saves lost visits.

There is a video category in the filter, but check in the demo how that content is presented before building your portfolio around audiovisual pieces.

The skill bars can work against you

In the freelance business the client does not hire a resume, they hire proof that you can solve their problem. That is why you should think carefully about Larry's percentage bars: a half-filled bar in development tells the client exactly what you cannot do. If you use them, show only what you want to be hired for, or replace them with real projects and results you can prove.

The download CV button, on the other hand, usually helps: someone hiring you for the first time often wants something they can forward to their boss or partner.

What is underneath: Bootstrap 3, Font Awesome and valid HTML

The demo advertises a base with Bootstrap 3, Font Awesome icons, clean design and valid HTML code. It is a simple base built for a personal presentation, not a theme with dozens of modules. Before deciding, open the demo on your phone and in your usual browser and check that the reading experience and the menu convince you.

Questions before choosing Larry

Can I build a blog with it? That is not its approach. If your strategy involves publishing often, consider another theme.

Does it work for several people or a studio? It is written in the first person for a single professional. A studio would have to rewrite the texts.

Can I offer my CV for download? Yes, the demo includes a button to download the CV next to another one to view the resume.

How many work categories can I have? The demo shows five in the filter, but that is only an example. Check how they are managed before preparing your material.
