About Lauv – Creative Portfolio WordPress Theme

Photographers and designers who want the work to speak for itself (and who should look elsewhere)

You have great work and a website that hides it: templates with too much noise, menus that compete with your photos and galleries that make people click again and again. Lauv is a minimalist portfolio theme designed to put the image at the center. Its demo is the website of a senior photographer and graphic designer from London, and that is the natural buyer: freelancers and small studios showing visual projects.

It is not the right choice if you want an online store, a booking system or a corporate site with many services. What the demo shows is portfolio, about page, blog and contact. If you need anything more, check in the demo whether it covers it before deciding.

Home in white or black: split screen, fullscreen or masonry

The first decision in Lauv is the mood. The demo offers a white home and a black one, and in each you can choose how the portfolio is displayed: split screen, one screen, standard, fullscreen or masonry. Try it with your own images, because the same work reads differently depending on the background.

How Lauv shows each project, from the grid to the single page

The portfolio listing can be built as a grid of two, three or four columns, as masonry with the same columns, or in a justified format. There are also several hover effect styles for each thumbnail, so the listing is not a silent wall of images.

The page for each project is where the sale is decided, and here you have options:

  • Single image for pieces that stand on their own.
  • Images on the left or right of the text, useful if you want to tell the story of the commission next to the photos.
  • Slider for series that are viewed in order.
  • Masonry, horizontal and packery (the latter in two, three or four columns) for freer compositions.

There is also a protected portfolio variant, meant for work you do not want to show to everyone. Check in the demo how access works before promising it to a client.

What a new client compares in your portfolio

Someone hiring a photographer or a designer usually opens several portfolios in a row and stays with the one that lets them understand the style first. That is why the layout choice is not a cosmetic detail: a uniform grid conveys order and method, a justified mosaic respects mixed formats and a fullscreen view bets on the impact of a single image. Choose according to what you want to be remembered for, not according to what looked best in the demo.

About page, blog and contact with the same feel

Lauv includes two versions of the about page and a contact page. The blog supports three layouts: grid, horizontal and masonry. In the demo, categories such as photography, nature, design and architecture appear, a good base if you work in more than one field and want each visitor to see their own first.
