Each project in your portfolio calls for its own presentation

You upload a poster that lives on a single image, then a photo series, then a project that needs text to explain it. If they all land in the same template, the poster looks thin, the series gets crowded and the explanation slips into the background. A portfolio is also judged by how each piece is laid out.

Lavr, by ypromo, is a portfolio theme with six presentations for each project page. Its home pages fall into three families: landing pages, for studios, agencies, companies and shops; showcase pages, centered on a screen of work; and portfolio pages, for profiles such as freelancer or filmmaker. Start by sorting your material by type of project, then pick the design.

The demo landing page combines a sliding hero, company text, latest projects, a gallery, a testimonial, partner logos and contact details.

Projects, galleries and a blog for each kind of material

The portfolio allows an unlimited number of custom pages. Projects are organized by category, and each has a title, text, heading and thumbnail. Its page can use six presentations:

• Single image.
• Images beside the text.
• Slider.
• Masonry.
• Horizontal gallery.
• Packery.

The demo galleries come in grid, masonry, justified and Packery. The blog offers grid and masonry from two to four columns, plus a standard view. There are also About Us, About Me, Services, coming soon and 404 pages, a contact form and an advanced side menu.

The shop plays a supporting role and the block editor stays aside

Lavr is compatible with WooCommerce, and its demo includes shop, cart, checkout and customer account. The sample shop has 14 products in a grid with no sidebar, sorted by popularity, rating, latest or price; it has no filters or quick view.

The theme is also not optimized for Gutenberg, so plan your pages with the visual builder it uses. If you want to work mainly in the block editor, look for another theme. It is also compatible with WPML for multilingual sites.

Installing Lavr without losing access or your changes

The demo import runs through All-in-One WP Migration and leaves a default login, so it is best done before loading real content. Follow these steps:

1. If the server rejects the file, raise upload_max_filesize to 256M and the maximum execution time to between 400 and 600 seconds.
2. Install the theme from Appearance, Themes, Upload Theme, and add the plugins suggested by the dashboard notice.
3. Import the site from All-in-One WP Migration.
4. Log in with the admin username and password and change them immediately.
5. Regenerate thumbnails and choose the static front page under Settings, Reading.
6. Make code changes in the child theme included in the main archive, so an update does not erase them.

Portfolios with a different approach in the catalog

Does it work for one person?

Yes. It has home pages for freelancers and filmmakers, plus an About Me page.

Can I publish the site in several languages?

It is compatible with WPML, which is the route for a multilingual site.

How do I add several photos to a project?

When selecting the gallery images, hold down the Shift key.

Does it look right on mobile and high-resolution screens?

Yes, it is responsive and retina ready. Check your chosen home page on your own phone.

Should I edit the theme files directly?

No. Use the included child theme, since updates can overwrite what you change in the main one.
