About LearnPress Random Quiz Add-on

When the same online exam reaches a hundred students, the first conversation that happens is in a messaging group: "what did you get on question three?". With a fixed quiz, as soon as the first person finishes it, everyone else has the answers. This plugin tackles exactly that inside LearnPress: each attempt is drawn from a larger question bank, so not every student sees the same thing.

A large bank is worth more than one well-designed exam

People who teach online often spend hours refining a twenty-question exam. The problem is that the effort expires: the exam leaks and stops measuring anything. What protects an assessment is not a better question but having many more questions than each student ever sees. With LearnPress Random Quiz Add-on you write the bank once, by topic, and the quiz draws from it the exact number you set for each attempt.

How LearnPress Random Quiz Add-on behaves depending on who uses it

If you run a course with a final exam and certificate

You define how many questions appear and what the passing score is. Students cannot pass around a fixed list of answers, because each attempt brings a different selection in shuffled order. Grading is still automatic, just like in a regular LearnPress quiz.

If you allow several retakes

You can keep the number of allowed attempts.

If you manage a course with many students at once

Each student's results, scores and times are still recorded in the LearnPress course management dashboard, even though each one answered different questions.

What you configure and what happens on its own

  • Number of random questions: you set how many are drawn from the bank in each attempt.
  • Connection with the LearnPress question bank: the add-on uses that bank as its source, so questions are organized there.
  • Automatic grading: grading scale, minimum passing score and retakes are configured as in any LearnPress quiz.
  • Reports per student: scores, completion times and individual results.

A practical detail: if you set the random questions value to 0, all the quiz's questions are loaded, meaning there is no random selection.

It only works on LearnPress and does not write questions for you

It is an add-on: it needs the LearnPress plugin installed and does not work with other course systems. It does not generate content either: if your bank has twenty questions and you ask for ten per attempt, two students will look very much alike. The larger the bank relative to the number shown, the more different the exams will be. It reduces copying, but it does not replace supervision if the exam is high-stakes. Check in the demo how the quiz looks from the student's side.

Frequently asked questions before installing it

How many questions should the bank have?

There is no magic number. As a rule of thumb, quite a few more than you show per attempt, so the exams really differ.

Does it grade itself?

Yes. Quizzes with random questions are graded automatically, with the scale and passing score you configure.

Can I still limit attempts?

Yes, the number of retakes is still adjusted as in a standard quiz.

Will I see each student's results?

Yes, scores, times and individual results appear in the LearnPress dashboard.

Does it also shuffle the order?

Yes, each student receives their selection with the questions in shuffled order.
