About LearnPress Stripe Addon
When your student wants to pay in cash or by bank transfer and the checkout only asks for a card
An online course is sold to people in any country, and each country pays its own way. Someone who wants to enrol but can't find their usual method leaves without a word, and you never find out why. LearnPress Stripe Addon connects your site to your Stripe account so payment happens on your own website, with options the student already knows.
In the course business, many sales aren't lost on the sales page but at the last step. The student has already decided; the only thing left is that payment shouldn't force them to use something they don't have or make them distrust it. That's where this add-on does its work.
Payment inside your site with LearnPress Stripe Addon
The student pays without leaving your site, in a Stripe form embedded in the page. Card details are processed by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure, not by your WordPress.
- Cards and digital wallets: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- Local methods: more than 40, such as Bancontact, Boleto, Cash App Pay, EPS, giropay, iDEAL, Multibanco, OXXO, Przelewy24 and SEPA Direct Debit. They are enabled depending on your Stripe account configuration.
- Order status: when Stripe confirms the payment, LearnPress updates the order.
Three academies, three reasons to charge with Stripe
Academy with students in several countries
Boleto, OXXO, iDEAL or Multibanco are among the local methods you can offer. Enabling them in Stripe is what really widens your reach, and the add-on simply shows them in your checkout.
Courses with a subscription or membership
The add-on supports subscription payments with Stripe. It is designed to be used alongside LearnPress's LP Membership add-on: if a payment fails and the invoice is paid later, the membership is reactivated. It's exactly the point where recurring charges tend to cause headaches.
Small team that has to balance the books
All transaction details, reports and refunds live in the Stripe dashboard, which is probably where you already check your income. There's no need to cross-reference two systems to know what has been charged, what has been refunded and what is in dispute.
Questions from people about to install it
Do I need a Stripe account?
Yes. The add-on connects LearnPress to your Stripe account; without one there's nothing to connect. Signing up for Stripe is free.
How is it set up?
You install it like any plugin, enable it in the LearnPress settings and copy the API keys from the Stripe dashboard into the add-on settings.
Do the 40 local methods appear automatically?
No. They depend on how your Stripe account is configured.
Where do I see payments and issue refunds?
In the Stripe dashboard. LearnPress only updates the order status when Stripe confirms the payment.
Without LearnPress and a Stripe account it charges nothing
It's a LearnPress extension: it doesn't work with another course system or on its own. Nor does it replace Stripe's reporting dashboard: refunds and payment analysis are done there, not from WordPress. And the local methods you offer depend on your Stripe account, not on the add-on.
