About LoginPress Pro Social Login Addon
You run open registration and every week you delete users who don't exist
A registration form with email and password asks work from the visitor and hands bots an easy target. The usual result: real people who quit halfway through the form and a user list full of fake accounts you then have to clean up. LoginPress Pro Social Login Addon tackles both at once: it lets the visitor sign in with an account they already have.
It suits you if your site needs user accounts (community, courses, client area, members-only content) and you want to remove friction at the door. It is not for you if:
- You don't have LoginPress Pro installed: it is an add-on for that plugin and does not work on its own.
- Your audience uses other networks: it covers Google, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and no others are on the list.
- You want a complete anti-abuse system: it reduces registration spam, but it does not replace a login attempt limit or a CAPTCHA.
What changes for the visitor in a hurry
Instead of inventing yet another password, the visitor picks their network and logs in or registers with their account. For you, the practical effect is twofold: more people finish signing up and fewer junk registrations.
Which network to offer, depending on who visits you
You don't need to enable them all. Think about your reader:
Every button you add is one more decision on screen. Two well-chosen networks are usually enough.
LoginPress Pro Social Login Addon reduces spam, but it doesn't fully close the door
Logging in with a social account filters out a good share of automated registrations, but the classic WordPress form still exists if you don't manage it. If you want to protect it, LoginPress offers other separate add-ons for that, such as limiting login attempts or changing the login URL. This add-on only handles the social side.
It also doesn't decide for you what to do with new users: check which role they receive on sign-up so a quick registration doesn't open more doors than it should.
