About LWC-WhatsApp-Order - Order via WhatsApp
Orders closed over WhatsApp instead of at the checkout
There are markets where the payment gateway is not the natural route. The customer has no card, or does not trust entering it, or simply wants to ask a couple of things before buying. Across much of Latin America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, sales close by talking, and the tool people talk with is WhatsApp.
This plugin adapts WooCommerce to that reality instead of fighting it: it replaces the checkout process with a WhatsApp message carrying the order already written out.
How it works
The customer picks what they want and, rather than going through the gateway, presses a button that opens WhatsApp with the order details prepared. From there the conversation is direct: you confirm availability, agree delivery and take payment however you usually do.
The store remains the catalogue, with its products, photos and prices. What changes is the last step.
Why it works where it works
- No card required, and no account with any gateway.
- No payment form, which is where a great many mobile carts are abandoned.
- It allows questions before buying, which for made-to-order goods, craft products or food is close to mandatory.
- It leaves the contact open: the customer is now in your WhatsApp and can reorder by messaging, without going through the website.
That last point is the most underestimated. A gateway order ends in an email; a WhatsApp order ends in a conversation that still exists next month.
Who it makes sense for
Local businesses, made-to-order products, shops running their own delivery, and generally any store whose customers already message on WhatsApp even when there is a buy button.
And who it does not
If your volume is high and the order is standard, handling every sale by hand is a bottleneck. Here the order is not charged automatically or processed automatically: somebody has to reply. Worth being clear about before replacing the gateway with this.
Frequently asked questions
Does it take payment over WhatsApp?
No. The plugin moves the order into the conversation; payment is something you arrange with the customer however you normally do.
Does the order arrive with the details?
Yes, the message is generated with the order contents already written.
Can I keep the gateway as well?
That is a store configuration decision. It is worth checking the plugin's documentation to see whether both coexist in your case.
Is it any good at high volume?
Every order needs a manual reply, so at high volume it becomes a bottleneck.
