About MainWP Spinner
The same article across your network is still one article
You write a text, send it from your MainWP dashboard to several child sites and each one receives it identically, comma for comma. To vary it, you would open each version by hand and do the work that bulk posting was meant to save you.
Varying a text has two routes, and quality is decided when you pick one. With variants you write yourself, you have read every possible sentence. With an external engine, the synonyms come from that service and its options. The extension provides the connection, not the judgment.
MainWP Spinner adds spin syntax to the posts and pages on your dashboard. You write alternatives in the format {option one|option two}, or ask an engine to generate them, and the result is resolved before publishing.
Five engines and handwritten syntax
- The Best Spinner, Spinnerchief, Chimp Rewriter, WordAi and Spin Rewriter: you set one as the engine in the extension settings.
- Button to spin the article: the Spinner Options box in the editor sends the text to the engine with its options.
- Spinning a selection: you pick a word, a fragment or the whole text and get synonyms back.
- Title included: a checkbox also spins the article title.
- Nested syntax: a block can contain other blocks, and one option is chosen at random in each.
- Bulk posts and pages: the variation applies to the title and content of what you send to child sites.
Each engine shows its own options
The options box changes with the chosen engine, so a setting from one does not carry over to another:
- The Best Spinner: maximum synonyms per term, replacement quality and words not to change.
- Spin Rewriter: protected terms, confidence level, nested spintax, automatic sentences and paragraphs, and paragraph reordering.
- Spinnerchief: spin frequency, word quality, HTML protection and protected words.
- Chimp Rewriter: quality, protected terms and maximum spin depth.
- WordAi: quality, protected terms and synonyms.
Protect brand names and technical terms in the list of the engine you use, so a synonym does not change them.
The extension connects, but it does not write
A synonym dictionary of its own is not among its features: to generate variants you need an account with one of the engines. With no engine configured, the options box tells you so and sends you to the settings.
Always read the result, because a spun text can read oddly. If you only want to change specific data per site, such as a name or a city, a token system fits better than synonyms.
In practice, work in text mode when spinning HTML: the visual editor can damage the spun code.
Your first spun text, step by step
You need the MainWP Dashboard plugin installed and active. Then:
- Upload the extension folder to your dashboard and activate it.
- Open its settings and choose an engine, with your account details for that service.
- Create a bulk post and switch the editor to text mode.
- Write your variants or click Spin Article.
- Read several combinations before sending.
- Send to two test sites and compare which version each one receives.
That last step matters: check the behavior on your installation before spreading an article across your whole network.
When changing data per site is enough
For shared pages such as policies or terms, MainWP Boilerplate uses tokens with a value of their own on each child site. You keep your wording and change only the data you define. It does not spin text, so it solves a different problem and needs no external engine.
What to expect from spinning on your network
Do I need a separate service?
To generate variants with an engine, you need an account with it. With handwritten syntax you call no engine.
Does it work without MainWP?
No. It requires the MainWP Dashboard plugin.
Does each child site get a different text?
The syntax is resolved at random on sending. Check with two test sites how it is distributed in your case before counting on it.
Can anchor texts be varied?
You can write the syntax in the anchor, although the result depends on the engine. Test it with yours.
Can I stop a word from changing?
Yes, the engines offer lists of protected terms or words left untouched.
Does it work for pages as well as posts?
Yes, it applies to bulk posts and pages on the dashboard.
