About MhrMagazine – Newspaper and Magazine WordPress Theme

A newspaper front page empties out very quickly

Setting up a news site often ends with a front page that looks abandoned: category blocks with a single post, headlines that never change and readers who don't know where to start. For a news outlet, the front page is the product: visitors decide at a glance whether there is something new to read. MhrMagazine is built around that editorial front-page logic, with plenty of content visible at once.

MhrMagazine splits the front page into headlines, tabs and sections

The demo's home page opens with a strip of featured headlines with previous and next navigation. Below it, a tabbed block separates Latest, Popular and Top View.

Category blocks follow. The demo shows them with World, Politics, Science, Technology, Travel, Fashion and Health, each with a main story and secondary headlines. This organization lets a reader interested in just one topic find it without scrolling through the whole front page.

  • Featured headlines at the top for the story of the day.
  • Tabs to switch between new posts and the most read content.
  • One section per category, designed for sites covering several topics.

Photos, video and reading pages for a complete news outlet

Besides the front page, the demo includes photo gallery and video gallery pages, which is useful if your outlet combines reporting with visual material. It also has a post listing, a category page, a post detail page, contact, an "About Us" page, a 404 page and a "My Account" page.

The front page also has a block inviting visitors to follow a Facebook page, which suits outlets that bring in their audience from social networks.

Is it right for you if you publish less than one story a day?

It depends on how much content you have to fill the blocks. This design shines with several active categories and posts with featured images. If you publish rarely, the front page will have gaps and a simpler theme will serve you better.

Does it work for a personal blog?

It can be used that way, but it is aimed at newspapers and magazines. For a single-topic blog with few posts, so much structure is overkill.

Are the front-page categories always those?

The ones in the demo (world, politics, science, technology, travel, fashion, health) are sample content. Your site will show the categories you create, and it is worth checking in the demo how they are assigned to each block.

Does it have spaces for advertisers?

If your model depends on advertising, check in the demo where banners fit before deciding, because not every slot on a news front page works for ads.

Are the demo images included?

Treat them as an example of the layout. The photos and texts in the demo are sample news stories, so you will need your own images for the front page to look like that.
