The right part or none at all
Selling car parts online has a peculiarity no other retail shares: the customer is not looking for a product, they are looking for the product that fits their car. Brake pads that suit a 2014 Golf do not suit the 2016 one. If your site does not answer that, the customer emails asking whether it fits, and most do not even do that: they go to another shop.
Mobex is a WordPress theme with WooCommerce that brings that part solved, which is exactly where almost every parts theme falls short.
How the customer finds their part
- Vehicle filter, for narrowing the catalogue to what fits a specific model.
- Search by chassis number, connected to five different data providers. The most reliable method, because the VIN identifies the exact version.
- My garage, where the customer saves their car and the catalogue filters itself every time they return.
- Compatible vehicles list on the product page, so it is visible at a glance where that part fits.
Plus the usual of a well-kept shop: quick view, comparison, frequently bought together and instant search. It is built with Elementor and ships header, footer and mega menu builders.
The work that is not in the theme
And it has to be said plainly because it is the whole project: the fitment data.
The theme gives the search; which part fits which vehicle is information you have to obtain, load and maintain. It comes from your supplier, from a trade catalogue or from a manufacturer's database, and it needs updating when new models appear.
It is the first question of the project, before the design. With good data, this theme converts. With an unmapped catalogue, the search finds nothing and you have bought a façade.
The VIN search helps here, because the external connections identify the vehicle for you, but you will still need to know which references in your warehouse correspond to that vehicle.
