About MonsterInsights AMP Analytics Addon

Your AMP pages load fast, but your stats can't see them

You turn on AMP so mobile runs faster, and in the process the pages lose exactly what you need to measure them: the Analytics code. The result: visits that don't show up, or show up twice, and decisions made on numbers you can't trust.

How MonsterInsights AMP Analytics Addon restores tracking

This addon sets up tracking for AMP pages automatically, without touching tracking code or tags. The data is sent to Google Analytics 4 and shown in MonsterInsights reports, inside the WordPress dashboard.

With it you can check, among other data:

  • Pageviews, time on page and bounce rate.
  • Performance per page, with data for the last day or the last 30 days.
  • Device breakdown: mobile, desktop or tablet.
  • Site speed report, with tips to improve it.

Session unification: the end of double counting

Without a correct setup, someone who reads an AMP page and then moves to a regular page on your site can be counted as two separate visits. That distorts bounce rate and conversions: things look worse or better than they are.

The addon unifies those sessions so the whole journey counts as one.

It needs MonsterInsights as a base

It is an addon, not a standalone analytics plugin. Here is what it covers and what is up to you:

  • The addon handles: AMP page tracking, session unification and reports in the WordPress dashboard.
  • You provide: the main MonsterInsights plugin, installed and connected to your Google Analytics 4 account.
  • You provide: the AMP pages themselves, meaning a plugin or system that generates them on your site. This addon measures them, it doesn't create them.
  • Depends on your plan: advanced features such as custom dimensions or ecommerce reports belong to the MonsterInsights suite, so check which ones are available in your installation.

Nor does it turn data into strategy: it tells you which pages are failing, but deciding what to change is still your job.

Frequently asked questions

Does it slow down my AMP pages?

It shouldn't: it works in the background and is designed not to affect speed. Even so, compare your load times before and after.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Setup is automatic and doesn't require editing tracking code or tags.

Does it work with Google Analytics 4?

Yes, AMP page data is sent to GA4 with no extra technical setup.
