If you publish forms and don't know which one brings in customers, this addon is for you
Having a contact form, a quote form and a signup form and not knowing which one gets filled in, or where the people filling it in come from, is more common than it seems. People look at the total number of messages reaching their inbox and call it good. MonsterInsights Forms Tracking Addon is for those who already have traffic and forms and want to know which ones convert and which ones don't.
It won't help if you're looking for a form builder: this addon doesn't create or edit forms, it only measures the ones you already have with another plugin. And if you don't have visitors yet, the reports will show you little to analyze. It works as an add-on to MonsterInsights, so you need the base plugin to use it.
Impressions versus submissions: what your inbox doesn't tell you
A received email tells you someone converted. It doesn't tell you how many people saw the form and left. Here is the figure that changes decisions: the conversion rate of each form, that is, how many times it was shown compared to how many times it was completed. A form with many submissions can actually be the worst one on your site if thousands of people see it.
The addon automatically records views and submissions for every form on the site, with no manual tags, no custom events and no Google Tag Manager.
A report inside WordPress, with what you need to decide
The forms report brings together on a single screen:
- Sessions and pageviews for the whole site, with trend graphs.
- Impressions and submissions of forms.
- A filterable table with impressions, conversions and conversion rate by form, by source or by campaign.
You can choose preset or custom date ranges to compare periods, and export the report as a PDF. It's useful if you work for clients or have to report to other people on your team.
Where submissions come from: source, medium and campaign
If you invest in several channels (search engines, social media, email, ads), the breakdown by source and medium shows you which one actually fills your forms, not which one generates the most visits. The campaign filter connects UTM data with completed submissions, so you can compare an email campaign with an ad campaign by the forms each one produced.
This cross-check depends on your campaigns carrying their UTM parameters correctly. Without them, you'll see traffic grouped in a more generic way.
Compatible with the usual form plugins
It works with WPForms, Gravity Forms, Formidable Forms, Contact Form 7, Ninja Forms, Elementor Forms and Divi Forms. It covers contact forms, lead capture forms, order forms, surveys and registrations. You don't have to change form plugins to measure. If you use one that isn't on the list, check with a test form that views and submissions show up in the report before relying on the data.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to set up events or Google Tag Manager?
No. You activate the addon and form tracking starts working with no code or custom events.
Can I see which campaign generates the most submissions?
Yes, by filtering the report by campaign you see the impressions, conversions and conversion rate of each one.
Does it work for payment or order forms?
Yes, it measures submissions of order forms and, with WPForms, payment forms too. It measures the form submission, it doesn't replace a store sales report.
Does it work on its own, without MonsterInsights?
No. It's an addon for the MonsterInsights plugin and needs it to be installed.
