About Muzex – Museum WordPress Theme + RTL
Small museums and exhibition halls with a lean team, not ticketing websites
A museum or exhibition hall often has a problem you can't see from the outside: a lot of content to show (collections, rooms, temporary exhibitions, the history of the building) and almost nobody with time to maintain the website. Muzex is a WordPress theme for museums and exhibitions.
It works for you if you run a museum, an art gallery or an organization that stages exhibitions (themes such as antiquities, archeology, history, classic art, maritime and memorials). It also fits if you want an elegant, modern look that doesn't clash with a classic museum.
It won't work if you want to sell tickets online, manage capacity or have an object catalog with technical records. The theme includes pricing, donation and membership pages as presentation content, but that is not the same as a booking or payment system. For that you would have to add other plugins and check that they integrate.
The pages a museum needs already come designed in Muzex
The most useful thing about this theme is that you don't start from a blank page. It includes layouts for:
- About us and team
- Venues
- Donation and membership
- Pricing, testimonials and FAQ
- Filterable gallery
- Several blog layouts and a 404 page
With the demo content you can load that whole skeleton and replace the texts and images with your own.
Muzex with Elementor: visual editing, but check which version you need
The theme is compatible with Elementor and Elementor Pro, so you can build and change pages by dragging blocks. If you're new to it, you'll need to get familiar with it. Check in the demo which elements of the pages depend on the paid version before planning your site.
It also includes its own options panel (based on Redux), Google fonts (more than 600 families) and support for custom fonts, useful if the museum's identity requires a specific typeface. There are also unlimited sidebars, footer widgets, social links, custom page templates and a full-screen background slider.
A museum website in several languages
Museums receive visitors from other countries, and here the theme helps: it is compatible with WPML to create versions in several languages and can be localized with .pot files. Keep in mind that WPML is a separate plugin you must get on your own.
For contact, it works with Contact Form 7, which is also a separate plugin. The theme is responsive and ready for retina screens.
What to expect from its technical base
It is built with HTML5, CSS3, jQuery and Bootstrap 3, with a 1170 px grid. It is a simple base to customize with your own CSS, but Bootstrap 3 is an older technology: if you want the latest in performance and native WordPress blocks, check the demo for reading quality and mobile speed before deciding.
Frequently asked questions about Muzex
Is it suitable for a contemporary art gallery?
Yes. It is designed for galleries, exhibitions and museums, with a modern style that also allows a classic approach.
Can I sell tickets or collect donations with it?

Can I import the demo content?
Yes, it includes demo content to load the pages already designed and then replace it with your own.
