About myCred cashCred PayPal
Every point you hand out can end up being money
Giving points for commenting, buying or finishing a lesson is cheap as long as they only buy discounts or ranks. The day users can cash them out, every point becomes a real cost, and people notice quickly.
myCred cashCred PayPal is a myCred addon that lets users redeem their points for real money and withdraw it through PayPal. Before turning it on, review how many points your current rules give away: the exchange rate you set will turn that generosity into spending.
Automatic withdrawals or manual approval with myCred cashCred PayPal
The addon offers two ways to handle payouts, and your choice changes your workload a lot:
- Automatic withdrawal: the user withdraws their money with PayPal without you stepping in on every request.
- Manual withdrawal: the user sends a request and you decide. The status can be Pending, Approved or Rejected.
- Minimum and maximum points: you set the range of points that can be withdrawn in each request.
- Currency type and exchange rate: you define how much money each point is worth.
- Custom point type: you can create it from the myCred settings.
- Debugging log: it shows the transaction results returned by PayPal, useful when a user says a payment never arrived.
Three situations and how cashCred fits each one
A community with lots of activity points
If points are earned just by taking part, the sensible start is manual mode: you review every request and spot anyone piling up points without contributing anything. A reasonable minimum of points avoids tiny withdrawals.
A site with many requests every month
Approving every payout by hand becomes a permanent job. Automatic withdrawal takes it off your desk, but then your control comes from the exchange rate and the maximum points, which are worth setting carefully before you open it up.
A rewards program with two kinds of points
If you want some points to be purely decorative (ranks, badges) and others redeemable, being able to create a custom point type in myCred helps you keep them apart.

Can I approve every withdrawal myself?
Yes. In manual mode the user sends the request and the status can be pending, approved or rejected.
Can I prevent very small or very large withdrawals?
Yes, with the minimum and maximum points limits per withdrawal.
How do I know if PayPal processed a payment correctly?
In the debugging log you see the transaction results returned by the gateway.
Can I decide how much a point is worth?
Yes, by setting the currency type and exchange rate in the cashCred settings.
It only pays out through PayPal and needs myCred
It is an addon: it does not work without myCred, which creates the points and the rules for earning them. It does not hand out points by itself either, it only lets users redeem them. And you need a PayPal account to pay your users. If your users prefer another gateway, there are other, separate cashCred addons for that.
