About Newsletter Gravity Forms Addon
Your contact form is already collecting emails you are not using
If you use Gravity Forms, you probably have contact, quote or registration forms full of email addresses that never reach your newsletter list. This addon connects those forms to the Newsletter plugin so the subscription happens in the same submission.
Newsletter Gravity Forms Addon: field mapping, lists and consent
You work from the Newsletter menu, in the Gravity Forms entry, which shows the list of your forms. Click Configure on the one you want to connect and a mapping panel opens.
- Field mapping: each subscriber field is linked to a form field. The email field is required.
- Consent: if you want an acceptance checkbox, use Gravity Forms' special "consent" field and use it as the condition to start or not start the subscription.
- Lists the visitor can choose: add a "checkboxes" field and link each checkbox to a public Newsletter list. For example, a group of topics with "Sport" and "Outdoor".
- Enforced lists: you can always add the subscriber to one or more lists, including private ones. The visitor does not see them; they simply end up on their profile.
- Confirmed or unconfirmed status: if you choose unconfirmed, Newsletter sends the usual double opt-in activation email.
Optional or mandatory subscription
You can decide whether the visitor has to tick the box or whether the subscription is always collected. In the second case, do not add the consent field and adjust the configuration accordingly. Keep in mind that collecting subscriptions without asking may have data protection implications you need to assess in your case.
What it needs to work
It is not a standalone plugin: it requires Gravity Forms and the Newsletter plugin to be installed. It does not create forms or send newsletters by itself; it only connects the two. The lists you offer must already exist in Newsletter.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use it with a regular contact form?
Yes. It can be a contact form with a subscription option or one dedicated only to collecting subscriptions. Nothing special is needed when designing it, except including an email field.
How do I ask for consent?
With Gravity Forms' "consent" field, which you then map as the condition for the subscription to start.
Can visitors choose their interests?
Yes, with a checkboxes field linked to your public Newsletter lists.
Can I add everyone to a list the visitor does not see?
Yes, with enforced lists, which also accept private ones.
Lists are linked form by form
The configuration is individual for each Gravity Forms form. If you have several, repeat the mapping in each one. Start with the form that receives the most emails: create the lists in Newsletter first, design the topic checkboxes, set up the mapping and test with your own email to check that it reaches the right profile and, if you chose double opt-in, that you receive the activation email.
