About Newsletter WP Forms Integration Addon

Someone who writes asking for a quote didn't ask for your newsletter

You have a contact form that receives enquiries every day and, separately, a newsletter list that grows slowly. Moving emails from one to the other by hand is tedious, and something always gets left behind. This addon connects the two: the WPForms form feeds the Newsletter plugin list with the data the person already fills in.

There is an idea behind this: whoever writes to you has a specific intent (asking, seeking help, buying) and wasn't thinking about receiving your emails. Whether they end up as an interested subscriber or a spam complaint depends on how you present the option. That's why the subscription checkbox is the central piece.

Newsletter WP Forms Integration Addon, step by step with a contact form

Imagine you already have a form with name, email and message. Here is how you turn it into a form that also subscribes:

  • Add the checkbox. Insert a checkboxes field with a single option and delete the example checkbox it comes with by default. That way the person decides for themselves.
  • Adjust the label. Write what they will receive and roughly how often. A vague label leads to unsubscribes and complaints.
  • Save the form. This is where the connection starts.
  • Click the action link to connect it to Newsletter. This is where the mapping between the two plugins starts.
  • Map the fields. Each form field is matched to a subscriber field. The only required one is the email address.
  • Save the changes and send a test with your own email to check that it appears in the list.

The limits show up in this walkthrough: you need WPForms and the Newsletter plugin installed, and only what the form collects and you have mapped reaches the list. It isn't a standalone subscription form: it starts from a contact form that you have already built.

Subscribing everyone who writes to you: a decision, not a shortcut

If you prefer not to offer the checkbox, you can set the subscription checkbox field as not present, and then every person who uses the form is subscribed. It is convenient, but it is exactly the case of the customer who only wanted an answer and starts receiving newsletters.

Before using it this way, consider what the data protection rules in your country require for sending commercial communications. If in doubt, keep the checkbox visible: fewer subscribers arrive, but they arrive wanting to read you.

Questions before installing Newsletter WP Forms Integration Addon

Does it work without the Newsletter plugin?

No. It is an add-on that passes data from WPForms to Newsletter subscribers, so it needs both.

What is the minimum data I have to map?

Only the email address.

What if something fails after I change the form or WPForms?

Check the mapping and repeat the test submission.
